KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Numerous reports are suggesting this could be a entry-level electric scooter slotted lower than the iQube.
- A large 'O' in the background of the teaser seems to lean towards the 'Orbiter' name.
- The only visible cue is the curve of what looks like a large front wheel.
- Interestingly, TVS also filed a design patent of another electric scooter in Indonesia.
It is official; TVS has confirmed the launch of a new two-wheeler, likely to be an EV. Now while many details are being kept under very tight wraps, there are some interesting bits that we can go over. TVS has also rolled out a teaser for this two-wheeler, which is set to be shown on August 28.

New Upcoming TVS EV On August 28; Details

According to many reports and rumours, the new two-wheeler is likely going to be an entry-level electric scooter, which is going to slot below the iQube in TVS' current lineup. This is going to be the third electric scooter from the Hosur-based manufacturer (you do remember the Scooty Teenz Electric, don't you?)

TVS is obviously keeping a lot of details under very tight wraps, but many reports suggest that it could be named 'Orbiter', as the teaser image also hints towards the name, with a big 'O' in the background. The bikemaker had recently filed a design patent in Indonesia for an electric scooter, which seems to bear a simple and minimalistic design, but with large wheels. The rear also appears to get flush fitting lighting elements, similar to what we have seen on the new Jupiter 110.

In terms of the hardware and mechanicals, the upcoming scooter sits on twin shock absorbers, and it also seems to be powered by a swingarm-mounted electric motor, instead of the iQube's hub-mounted setup. Not much is known in terms of the features, but it would be fair not to expect many things, save for an LCD screen with some basic connected features.
Apart from this, TVS is also set to launch a bigger version of the Ntorq, soon afterwards on September 1.
Verdict
With the iQube as the only EV in TVS' lineup, it makes sense for the bikemaker to expand its EV lineup with a new product. Whether or not it turns out to be a scooter or a motorcycle remains to be seen; something which will be unraveled on August 28.
