The BMW F 450 GS is getting closer and closer to entering production, and not long before that, a fresh batch of patent images have been leaked. The patent images seem to bear many differences over the concept motorcycle seen at the 2025 Auto Expo, which do bring some interesting questions to the mind.

BMW F 450 GS Patent Images Leaked; Details
The patent images of the F 450 GS bear many differences over the motorcycle that was shown at the Auto Expo. The concept appeared to be more off-road focused with a taller stance, knobby tyres and cross-spoke rims. However, going by the patent images, and also the many spy shots that we have seen before, the F 450 GS is likely going to be a more road-biased adventure-tourer, but we won't be surprised if a more hardcore, off-road biased version also pops up.
The patent images show us a familiar design language inspired by the R 1300 GS, featuring sharp bodywork all around. The front-end continues with the familiar ADV beak, the broad tank section and the headlamp section also draws inspiration from the bigger GS. However, this is a split-type unit, rather than the 1300's unit with an X-shaped DRL.
The F 450 GS will be powered by a new parallel-twin engine, and while obviously output figures are not out yet, BMW Motorrad has stated it is aiming for this engine to produce 48bhp. The F 450 GS is also going to be built on a lightweight trellis frame, and BMW is aiming for a kerb weight of 175kg.
Speaking of the hardware, the bike is going to be suspended on fully-adjustable USD forks and a pre-load adjustable monoshock. While the patent images show alloy rims, BMW says it will also offer cross-spoke rims as an option. The exhaust pipe is also mounted much lower on the motorcycle seen in the patent images.
In terms of features, the F 450 GS will come with a 6.5-inch TFT screen setup with smartphone connectivity, and other things will include a lean-sensitive ABS, and riding modes, to name a few. We can also expect a slipper clutch and some more rider aids to be featured here as well. BMW Motorrad is going to showcase the bike globally later this year, and we can expect it to be launched not long afterwards.
Verdict
The F 450 GS is going to compete against the KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan, and the Honda NX500. Its twin-cylinder engine will certainly set it apart, as it will benefit from a unique positioning. It will also replace the G 310 GS, which has soldiered on for far too long now.
