Performance and drivetrain

Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line is powered by Volkswagen Group's latest 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine from the EA888 evo4 family. The four-cylinder unit produces 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque, and is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen's 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system comes as standard.
The SUV delivers brisk performance for its size, with a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 7.3 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 224 km/h.
Dimensions and practicality

With a length of 4,792 mm and a wheelbase of 2,789 mm, the Tayron R-Line positions itself firmly in the full-size three-row SUV class. The cabin layout focuses on family usability with a sliding second row and flexible cargo area. Boot capacity stands at 345 litres with all three rows upright and expands to 850 litres when the third row is folded.
Interior and features

The cabin adopts Volkswagen's latest digital-first design theme, highlighted by a large 15-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display. A standout feature is the augmented-reality head-up display, which projects navigation and driving information directly onto the windscreen.
Front occupants get 12-way electrically adjustable seats with ventilation, memory, lumbar support and massage functions. Additional comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control and 30-colour ambient lighting.
Exterior design and equipment

The R-Line treatment lends the Tayron a sportier stance with model-specific bumpers, side styling elements and 'R' badges on the fenders. It rides on 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels and features IQ Light HD Matrix LED headlamps, connected tail lamps and illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear. The SUV is available in seven exterior paint options.
Safety and driver assistance

Safety equipment is comprehensive, with nine airbags, electronic stability control and hill start and descent assist included as standard. The Tayron R-Line also offers Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems incorporating 14 active safety and convenience functions, along with selectable drive modes to tailor vehicle dynamics.
Rivals and positioning

In India's premium three-row SUV space, the Tayron R-Line takes on models such as the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian, as well as newer entrants like the MG Majestor. With its pricing and feature list, Volkswagen is pitching the Tayron as a more technology-focused and performance-oriented alternative in the segment.
