Volvo has silently pulled the plug on the S90 sedan in India, delisting it from the brand's official website. This move effectively marks the end of Volvo's sedan offerings in the country, leaving it with an all-SUV portfolio that includes models like the XC40 Recharge, XC60, and XC90. Is this the end of the road for the premium sedan or making way for the facelift? Volvo S90 Delisted From Website In India

The Volvo S90 was last updated in India with a facelift in October 2021, offering a premium experience through a single, fully-loaded B5 mild-hybrid petrol variant. Powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine producing 250hp, the S90 combined understated elegance with advanced features. Despite being assembled locally and positioned competitively at Rs 68.25 lakh (ex-showroom), the S90 struggled to keep up with newer and more tech-forward rivals such as the new-gen Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series. With limited drivetrain options and outdated infotainment tech, the S90 began to feel a step behind in a fiercely competitive segment, and its declining sales reflected that. Now, the official website displays it as discontinued in India whereas the updated sedan was revealed globally back in April 2025.

Globally, Volvo recently unveiled yet another update for the S90 in April 2025. However, given the shifting consumer preference towards SUVs in India and the brand's growing focus on electrification and crossovers, the S90's exit isn't entirely surprising. However, with dwindling sales, it could mean that the model is now leaving Indian market for good, or this might just be a prep for the updated sedan to be launched in India.

Updated S90 To Launch In India?

The updated model revealed last year comes with a hybrid and a mild-hybrid as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains. In addition to the S90 update, the brand also unveiled its all-electric sibling, the Volvo ES90, earlier this year. The ES90 boasts a 106kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 700 km, placing it squarely in the luxury EV segment. However, as of now, Volvo India has not shared any plans to introduce either the facelifted S90 or the new ES90 in the domestic market. But we still expect that this could be making its way to the Indian market in the near future, but without the plug-in hybrid set-up. As of now, the brand is focusing mainly on the EX30's India launch, which is expected this year.
