WATCH Yamaha R15M vs Yamaha R15 V3 in Classic Drag Race

Yamaha Motors India added two new members to the R family, R15 V4 and R15M. Yamaha has always managed to keep its R-series updated, thereby taking the racing quotient to another level. Today, we came across a video of a drag race that was conducted to figure out the difference in the performance of R15M and R15 V3. While both the motorcycles are equally matched on paper, the Yamaha R15M vs Yamaha R15 V3 drag race video we have here shows how they stack up against each other in real world conditions.

Visually, the Yamaha R15 V4 and R15M look sharper than the R15 V3. This is because Yamaha has introduced a completely new front fairing inspired from the elder siblings Yamaha R7. Due to its sporty design language, the R15M does not seem to be a 155cc bike. Yamaha has introduced a single-LED projector headlamp unit which might seem to be a small one but have a much better illumination.

On the other side, even the R15 V3 looks good but the latest R15 is certainly a bit sharper and bolder. The latest version even gets some segment-first features and technology. Due to the change in its fairing design the aerodynamics of the sporty commuter have also been improved. The new R15M comes with more fluidic bodylines and a slightly tweaked rear seat design. The grab rails of the new R15M look much sharper and are wider than before, while the R15 V3 had sleeker ones.

The biggest change spotted between the bikes is with their front suspensions. Earlier, R15 V3 used to come with telescopic forks upfront which have now been replaced with USD forks in R15M. Although the USDs are stiffer, they help with attaining better stability.

Both the motorcycles come with the same engine with just a minute changes in the power and torque figures. The bike looks almost the same from the rear. However, the R15M gets a fully-digital instrument console with Yamaha Motorcycle Connect which was missing in the R15 V3.

Yamaha R15M vs Yamaha R15 V3 Drag Race Result

Finally, if we talk about the performance in the drag race, the R15M has enjoyed a very slight advantage due to the quick-shifter. That said, there's only a very slight difference in performance and both the motorcycles max out at a speedo-indicated 143 kmph. From this, it's clear that anyone looking for straight-line performance will be hard-pressed to notice much difference in the performance of the old and the new motorcycle.
