Yamaha R15's Journey From V1 To V4: A Great Success

Yamaha Motor India has always created a racing spirit with the evolution in its bikes and scooters and is a globally known brand for its sporty commuters. Yamaha Motor is gearing up its range to hit the Indian two-wheelers market hard.  Yamaha began its journey in 1985 with the most iconic bike to date, RX 100. Since then, Yamaha has continuously invested in developing its brand name and as well as its products.

Back in 2008, Yamaha introduced one of the fastest sporty bikes, the R15 in India built on a race-inspired chassis. Though the range of motorcycles at that time was not much, still Yamaha managed to give a tough competition to its competitors, Hero Honda Karizma and Bajaj Pulsar 200.

R15 V1 had a much more powerful engine with better design and technology that the competitors could not think of. Yamaha offered a 149cc Liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. It then used to come with great power and responsibility and also had disc brakes at both ends.

Yamaha R15 V3

2017 was the year of upgrades. Yamaha launched its R15 V3 with inverted front suspension shocker, full LCD display console, LED Lights, and much wider tyres than its predecessors. The bike was unleashed with more power and a refined engine which was upgraded to a 155.1cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with an upgrade in the power and torque digits.

Yamaha had equipped the V3 machine with Variable Valve Actuation technology which helped the rider produce torque even at lower rpms. The 155.1cc engine was a sporty engine that could rev hard on roads showcasing its track DNAs.

Yamaha R15 V4

The much-awaited Yamaha R15 V4 has finally made its entry in the markets. The recently launched R15 V4 has much more upgraded and advanced features and technologies installed. Yamaha for the first time has introduced the Yamaha Y-connect application which lets the rider get connected with the motorcycle from their smartphone devices.

The digital instrument cluster features phone battery status, call/SMS alerts and all the other notifications received on the rider's mobile phone. Yamaha with its V4 update has installed leading safety features like traction control and quickshifters available with some variants.

Yamaha R15 V4 carries pure Yamaha Rs DNA. The recently launched R15 now comes with a bi-LED headlamp with LED DRLs on both sides. Bike almost has the same dimensions as before with just an update in the side fairings as well.

Yamaha R15 V4 does not have any direct competition in the market whereas it can still compete with KTM RC 125.  Yamaha R15 has been in the market for the last 13 years. It has made its place in the hearts of the public. Yamaha R15 family has always managed to deliver much refined and updated technology and features to its wide range of customers.
