Yokohama: The Need for E+ Tyre Mark

Electric cars are unique and require special tires. Yokohama says their tires handle the extra weight of electric car batteries and the power of electric motors. These tires reduce noise and help the car go farther on one charge. They also have an "E+" mark for easy identification by customers. The "E+" mark will be displayed on tyre sidewalls, websites, and catalogues, ensuring customers can easily identify tyres designed for electric vehicles.

The first tyre with the "E+" mark will be the ADVAN Sport EV, designed for electric vehicles. It will be available in Europe and other markets from autumn 2023. Yokohama Rubber already supplies original equipment (OE) tyres for various electrified vehicles, including premium cars like BMW iX3, Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+, Lexus RZ, crossover SUVs from Toyota Motor (the bZ4X) and Subaru (the SOLTERRA), and mini-vehicles like the Nissan Sakura and Mitsubishi Motors eK X EV.

Yokohama Rubber's 3-Year Plan

As part of its 2021-2023 medium-term management plan, Yokohama aims to promote high-end tyres like the global flagship ADVAN, Geolander SUV and pick-up truck tyres, and other winter tyres for higher sales. Yokohama Rubber values feedback from both OEMs and EV owners. They consider this input while developing replacement tyres for electric vehicles.

Verdict

Yokohama's "E+" mark initiative highlights its commitment to tailor tyres specifically for electric vehicles, ensuring better performance and driving experience for EV owners. Share your thoughts below!
