Expert Verdict on DX
The new Kinetic DX will certainly appeal to those who were fans of the original, and would like to revisit the old days on a modern rendition. Sure, it may not emit the same 2-stroke drone, and there’s no smoke either, but this appears to be a very tastefully-done resurrection of an icon from the past, and expectations are high. Kinetic DX Detailed Review
- The Kinetic DX evokes a sense of nostalgia with its familiar design, which can be traced back to the 1990s. However, there are some modern touches, such as the new LED headlamp with turn indicators in the shape of the Kinetic logo, along with another lighting element placed on the apron. The front apron has also been redesigned slightly, and it gets a smoother minimalist treatment keeping current design trends.
- The new DX retains the familiar side profile, which consists of flat and smooth panels devoid of any decals and creases. The air vents from the original DX have also been retained, and it also gets flush-fitting retractable footpegs. The tri-air vents towards the rear have also been retained, further making it more recognisable.
- The rear section of the DX also remains familiar. However, the DX electric does not come with a spare wheel mounted on the grab rail, unlike the original DX.The tri-section tail lamp has also been replaced with a modern LED unit featuring the Kinetic branding embossed in the middle.
- There are a total of five colour options to choose from on the new DX. These include Black, Blue, Red, White, and Grey. These colours are a callback to the original DX, which was also available with similar paint schemes back in the day.

- Unlike its predecessor, the new Kinetic DX is powered by a hub-mounted electric motor which produces varying output figures depending on the variant. On the standard DX, this setup produces a claimed output of 6.3bhp, pushing it to a claimed speed of 80kmph. The range-topping DX+ variant comes with a marginally higher power output of 6.4bhp, and a claimed top speed of 90kmph.
- Both variants of the new Kinetic DX are backed by a 2.6kWh LFP battery pack, and the range figures once again vary depending on the variant you choose. The standard DX variant comes with a claimed range of 102km on a single charge, while the range-topping DX+ gets a claimed range of 116km on a single charge. The battery takes a claimed time of 3 hours for a 0-80% charge.
- Both variants of the DX ride on 12-inch wheels with alloy rims, and in terms of braking, the DX uses a 220mm disc up front and a 130mm drum at the rear, which is further assisted by a combi-braking function. The scooter also uses telescopic forks and adjustable twin monoshocks.

The cluster supports bluetooth connectivity, and it also comes with turn-by-turn navigation, an optional keyless function with password protection, an intelligent assistant with greeting and birthday functions and more.
- Additionally, the DX also comes with a cruise control function, along with push-button retractable footpegs, three riding modes, a speaker system for music and voice assist, hill-hold assist, and regenerative braking.
