Hyundai i20 N Line
Hyundai I20 Nline is the sportier version of the regular I20. it comes with sporty bits, dual-tone treatment, and a powerful turbo petrol engine. The performance hatchback is only left in the market without a competitor. It has the same stance as the regular version, but the red inserts, a more powerful engine, and a thumpy exhaust note enhance the character. It is available in 2 variants and two transmission options. It’ll mainly rival the Tata Altroz Racer once it is launched but till then it has no competition in its segment.

Should I buy the i20 N Line?
If you are looking for a powerful performance hatchback that is fun to drive and engaging as well then the Hyundai i20N-line is a great choice. It is powered by a 1L turbocharged petrol engine, that provides good performance as well as a sporty characteristic inside the cabin with an updated steering that provides more confidence. The thumpy exhaust system will be your preference if you are considering the TGD-i system.
- The design and the dimensions of the regular I20 and the N-line variant are similar. The N-line variant gets a sportier look with the red inserts and different sets of alloys. The headlights are strong with good illumination at night. To add more sports character, the front disc brake calipers are red for an added sporty appearance.
- The dual-tone paint scheme in thunder blue color on the N-Line spec looks very appealing. The gloss black finish with red inserts enhances the sporty aesthetics of the regular i20.
- From the rear, it has the same charm and characteristics as the front design. The dual exhaust tip makes it look more sportier. The black skid plates at the rear enhance the overall appearance of the i20.
- The interiors of the i20 N-line are sporty yet functional simultaneously. Some features like a dashcam could have been offered for added safety. The fit and finish quality of the materials are on the premium side. The red stitching on the seats, red footwell lights, and chrome pedals enhance the sports characteristics.
- The steering gets paddle shifters ( in DCT ) and an N logo which has red stitching on the joints. The instrument cluster is the same as that of the regular I20 but could have done with some sporty elements.
- The plastic at the lower end is hard and a bit scratchy. Features like wireless charging and a sunroof which is offered in both variants take the lead.
- The i20 N-Line comes equipped with a 1 L 3-cylinder engine with both automatic and manual transmission. It offers brilliant performance but fuel efficiency has always been a question of concern in performance-oriented cars.
- The 1.0 L motor is good in performance with 120 BHP of power and 175 Nm torque, mated to a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT gearbox. It used to come with an IMT transmission, but now Manual has taken over it. This engine is quite refined at ideal and has a decent fuel efficiency of 10-15 Km/L in the city. But on driving aggressively, it can return in single digits as well.
- There is some low-end lag which can be felt but post-2000 RPM the mid-range is the sweetest with the turbo pull. The manual transmission is a sheer joy of driving for enthusiasts.
- There are 3 driving modes on offer, NORMAL, ECO, and SPORTS. In these modes, the performance is altered a bit along with the steering feel feedback and fuel efficiency.
- It comes equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Highline TPMS, and Traction control with plenty of other safety features to enhance the security of the passengers inside.
- For the N6 variant, there are no puddle lamps and height-adjustable seatbelts which are offered in the N8 variant.
i20 N Line safety specifications:
| Airbag | 6 airbags |
| ADAS | No |
| Parking Sensor | Rear Only |
- It has a 10.25-inch infotainment screen that has a good touch response without any lag. It comes with connectivity for ANDROID AUTO and APPLE CARPLAY, Bluetooth, etc. The display is crisp and easy to read in bright sunlight. The use of gloss black catches fingerprints that are visible evidently.
- The TFT digital instrument cluster is crisp in display and provides a plethora of information like fuel efficiency, trip details, digital speedometer, and tachometer. The N-line variant could have been offered with some red element inside the instrument cluster as well.
i20 N Line features:
| TPMS | Yes |
| Wireless Charger | Yes - Front |
| Ventilated Seats | No |
- The I-20 N-line is slightly on the stiffer side due to the stiff suspension setup. This makes it a driver's delight for an enthusiast around the corners but the comfort is reduced. The 16-inch alloys help in good ride quality.
- The 195-profile tires offer stupendous grip levels on the tarmac. The vehicle maintains its line and upgrading to 205-profile tires would help in increasing the grip levels.
- The rear seat comfort is decent and bumps and potholes do filter in sometimes. The steering wheel offers a good amount of feedback and at triple-digit speeds, it provides confidence to push hard beyond the limits. As compared to the regular version, it has a strong character present inside it.
- The cabin offers good insulation from all types of noises from the outside environment whether road noise, wind noise, or tire noise is concerned. Hardly anything filters inside the cabin. The sound output from the speakers provides premium quality output so music lovers will not be disappointed.
