Maruti S-Cross

The interior of the Maruti S-Cross feels a top notch and better than most Maruti cars. Even the plastic quality is feelworthy.  The interior space, especially in the front seats is very nice. Maruti S-Cross comes equipped with only one engine option which is a Ciaz-sourced 1.5-Lt naturally aspirated petrol. This engine also uses a mild-hybrid or start-stop technology for added fuel economy in city traffic. The peak power output of this engine is 104 hp & 138 Nm of peak torque. Maruti provides the options of a 5-speed manual gearbox which is very light and precise to use or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox for added convenience. The performance of this engine is brilliant and there is ample low-end torque for city traffic. The engine also performs well when pushed hard. The claimed ARAI mileage for the manual S-Cross is 18.55 kmpl whereas the automatic is 18.43 kmpl. There is no diesel engine as before. 

The ride and handling combination of S-Cross is its USP. Maruti engineers have tuned the S-Cross for customers who want the sedan comfort in an SUV shape. The suspension is tuned brilliantly to tackle the undulations of the road. The good suspension means the low-speed ride quality is brilliant. Also, as soon as the speed builds up, the car feels more planted than any of its rivals. The handling of the car has also been tuned accordingly to accommodate the suspension feel. The steering feedback is light at the low speeds while at the higher speeds the steering weighs up nicely. S-Cross feels confident to make high-speed turns well. Maruti S-Cross has been on sale for a few years now and the suspension set-up is also one of the selling points for this crossover.

Maruti Suzuki S-Cross also happens to be one of the safest cars in the segment. Maruti has equipped the S-Cross with the safety features such as dual-front airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Reverse parking assist, read defogger, Hill-assist, and even the ISOFIX seats which are hard to find at this price point. In the recent crash tests conducted by freelancing agencies, the Maruti S-Cross managed to score a well-deserving 4-star crash test rating. The commendable efforts for passenger safety from Maruti engineers do showcase in the S-Cross. The S-Cross is a value for money crossover one can find in a budget of Rs 10-12 lakh.
