Ford India updated the Endeavour with a minor facelift last year and as the BS6 emissions are just around the corner, rumours suggest this mega SUV might ditch the current 2.2 and 3.2-diesel units and get the international spec 2.0-litre Bi-turbo diesel engine with 10-speed Auto. That would indeed make the 2020 Ford Endeavour worth an upgrade, no?
Ford India is prepping up to launch the BS6 compliant models before the deadline of emission norms and Rushlane had shared pictures of a test mule of the Ford Endeavour, which is believed to be the BS6 version. Now rumours have suggested that Ford won't spend time to ready the old 2.2 and 3.2 diesel engines for BS6, rather will launch the 2.0-litre bi-turbo 4-cyl diesel with a 10-speed auto. The new engine will miss out on one cylinder but will compensate for the displacement crisis with another turbocharger. The power figures will be 210 bhp and a colossal 500 Nm of torque. Apart from the punch, the highlight will be the modern 10-speed auto instead of the current 6-speed one.

The cost of upgrading the 2.2 and 3.2-litre diesel will add a figure of over 5 digits to the current price and that can affect sales. Ford will get the price benefit with the sole 2.0-litre engine option and thus will surely ditch the old engines. This rumour also gives hint that the Endeavour now will only be sold as an automatic and not with the manual gearbox which was available with the 2.2-litre diesel engine that offers 160 bhp and 385 Nm of torque. However, Ford India hasn't given any confirmations yet.
Ford Endeavour lies between the price range of Rs 29.2 lakhs to 34.7 lakhs and takes on the likes of the cars like Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Skoda Kodiaq. Ford India sold 261 units of Endeavour in December 2019 which surprisingly did better than the Aspire which gathered sales of just 247 units.
