2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Launched - We Tell You What's New In It!

Royal Enfield has today finally launched the new updated BS6 compliant 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan in India. The Himalayan was first launched in the year 2016 and over the years, it has received several updates. Early last year, the company launched the new BS6 compliant Himalayan with new colour variants and a cleaner mill. Now, the bikemaker has launched the new 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan and its price starts at Rs. 2.01 lakhs, Ex-showroom Chennai. Read along to find what's new in the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan.

New Colour Variants and Design Tweaks
The 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6 was available in a total of six colour options. They were Snow White, Granite Black, Gravel Grey, Lake Blue, Rock Red and adventure junkies favourite Sleet Grey colour shade. For the year 2021, the company has discontinued three colour variants and instead, it now gets three new colours. So, the new 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in six colour variants. They are New Mirage Silver, New Pine Green, New Granite Black and old Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey.

The bikemaker has also made several design tweaks on the motorcycle. For instance, it gets new graphics on the body panels and even the frame of the motorcycle around the fuel tank has been revised. The new RE Himalayan gets a new seat with better cushioning for more comfort, a new windscreen, revised rear carrier with an additional plate to ensure secure fastening and placement of any luggage. Additionally, the rear carrier of the motorcycle has been also reduced in height and according to RE, with the new and lean ergonomically adjusted front rack, the rider will face minimal interference around the legs while riding, thus, improving the overall riding experience.

New Features
The new Himalayan is much more feature-loaded than before. The old RE Himalayan used to get an analogue instrument cluster with speedometer, tachometer, odometer, a gear-position indicator, clock, twin trip meters, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, etc. Now, while the analogue clusters of the Himalayan remain the same as before, it now gets new Tripper navigation too that first made its debut on the Meteor 350. This new Tripper navigation system is powered by Google and is compatible with RE's mobile application with the help of Bluetooth. It features turn-by-turn navigation and the RE Himalayan also gets a compass, hazard light and an improved side stand.

Engine and Transmission
The mechanicals of the motorcycle remains unchanged and so the new RE Himalayan continues to get a BS6 compliant 411cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 24.8 PS of maximum power at 6500 RPM and 32 Nm of peak torque between 4000-4500 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed constant mesh manual gearbox. The Himalayan is a dual-purpose motorcycle and it excels off the road too as it has a very good low-end performance.

The price of the new 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan starts at Rs. 2.01 lakhs, Ex-showroom Chennai. The bookings for the same are now open and the deliveries will also commence soon.
