With Phase II of the BS6 emission deadline coming soon, the auto sector is currently undergoing a shift. Yamaha recently launched its updated motorcycle line-up and now it is their scooter's turn. And in this direction, they have announced the launch of the 2023 Fascino and Yamaha Ray ZR.
The newly updated ones are The Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid, Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid, and Ray ZR Street Rally 125 Fi Hybrid. The Fascino S 125 Fi Hybrid disc is priced at Rs 91,030, while the Ray ZR 125 Fi Hybrid disc variant costs Rs 89,530. The Ray ZR Street Rally retails at Rs 93,530 (ex-showroom).
Yamaha Ray ZR, Fascino Updates
The 2023 Yamaha Fascino & Ray ZR 125cc hybrid scooters are pretty techy with Yamahas Bluetooth-enabled Y-Connect App. It provides a host of convenient features. It includes a Fuel Consumption Tracker, Maintenance Recommendations, Last Parking Location, Malfunction Notification, Revs Dashboard, and Rider Ranking to name a few.
More features include LED headlights, LED tail lights, a fully digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, front telescopic suspension, and a rear single-sided shock absorber. Both scooters get a 12 front alloy wheel with a disc brake option. The 10 rear alloy wheel, however, is with a drum brake.

Engine Reworked
The scooters are powered by a BS-6 OBD2 & E20 fuel-compliant, air-cooled, FI, 125cc engine that produces 8.2 PS & a peak torque of 10.3 Nm. This hybrid engine includes a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) System. However, the engine is the same as the outgoing model. But now integrated with a hybrid motor.
The Intelligent Power Assist feature delivers an additional thrust using the SMG system that doubles up as an electric motor. It features the Automatic Stop & Start system preventing engine idling & starts with a single throttle twist & side stand engine cut-off switch.
2 New Colour Schemes
With the reworked engine and new features, there are cosmetic uplifts as well. 2023 Yamaha Fascino gets an all-new Dark Matt Blue color while RayZR Hybrid gets two new attractive colors Matte Black & Light Grey Vermillion
VERDICT- This new update is very much in line with the industry movement. The OBD compliance deadline is approaching soon. So are different manufacturers towards complying.
