2026 Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 to Launch on 4th September - Things to expect

Ever since Royal Enfield discontinued the air-cooled Himalayan 411 and instead replaced it with a liquid-cooled Himalayan 452, loyalists of the outgoing model have been clamouring for a model with something that matches the character of the outgoing model. Royal Enfield aims to do just that by launching the Himalayan 440 on 4th September 2026.

To begin with, the idea of a Royal Enfield Himalayan with the 440 cc engine from the Scram isn’t new. Multiple pages on Instagram and Facebook have developed fan edits of an air-cooled Himalayan featuring the 440 cc engine from the Scram with a 6-speed gearbox.

So what all can we expect from the Himalayan 440

Engine

In terms of the engine, the 2026 Himalayan 440 is expected to get the 443 cc air-cooled motor seen on the RE Scram. With 25 BHP and 34 Nm, don’t expect this bike to set any roads on fire, but the motor's overall torquey nature is expected to give this motorcycle the famed cruising abilities of the old Himalayan 411. A major upgrade this vehicle will get over the Himalayan 411 is the addition of a 6-speed gearbox.

Wheels and Suspension

On the suspension front, the Himalayan 440 is going to be fairly rudimentary when compared to the more expensive Himalayan 450. But one can be fair to expect the suspension to have a decent amount of travel. As far as wheels are concerned, expect the Himalayan to come with a 21-inch spoked wheel setup to be a part of the standard equipment list, while alloy wheels are mostly going to be available on a higher model of the Himalayan 440.

Features

The 2026 Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 is going to be a little less loaded in terms of features. In fact, the feature set is going to be more along the lines of the Scram 440 and not the Himalayan 450.  While it is expected to come with Royal Enfield’s tripper system, the unit is going to be the smaller one that is seen on the likes of the Hunter 350 and the Scram 440 and not the one seen on the Guerrilla 450 or the Himalayan 450. So while turn-by-turn navigation is going to be available, it will not be like a full-screen display.

2026 Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Price

The 2026 Himalayan 440 is expected to be priced somewhere in the range of Rs 2.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 2.8 lakh (ex-showroom). This would put the Himalayan 440 squarely against the likes of the Yezdi ADV and slightly above the Scram 440.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 launch on the 4th of September is a clear indication that they want to tap into the budget ADV segment as well. With prototypes of a Bajaj ADV also doing the rounds, Royal Enfield wants to be proactive rather than reactive and hence the launch of this model.

Royal Enfield is very clear about developing the Himalayan sub-brand into one of its own marques and having different models under it. The launch of the Himalayan 440 is definitely a step in this direction, as this model will not only join the Himalayan 450, but will form a part of the larger family of Himalayan when the soon-to-be-due Himalayan 750 hits the shelves as well
