Asia's Largest EV Truck Manufacturing Plant To Come Up In Gujarat - Details

Triton EV, based in the United States, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Gujarat State Government to build the world's most iconic electric truck manufacturing plant, with a minimum investment commitment of Rs 10,800 crore over a five-year period, marking a watershed moment in India's EV journey to global leadership. The Triton EV Truck Manufacturing plant in Gujarat will be a state-of-the-art example of a 'Make in India' product, with end-to-end and integrated EV Truck Manufacturing.

At the signing of the MoU at the Gujarat State Government Secretariat in Ahmedabad, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat State, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, and Mr Himanshu B Patel, Founder and MD of Triton EV, as well as Shri Rajiv Gupta, Chief Secretary Government of Gujarat, were present.

Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, on welcoming Triton EV to his state, said, India is undoubtedly becoming a world leader in multiple areas. EV is one of them and with such investment from Triton EV we are excited to look at the journey ahead. This manufacturing plant will not only create jobs but will also become a major driver of India's exports output. Gujarat as a state is known for its entrepreneurial commitments over the last few decades and Gujarat is known for its economic success stories. This (Triton EV) will be the next level of our success stories.

The company plans to invest Rs 1,200 crore in the factory, which will be built on a 645-acre plot of land in Bhuj, during the financial year 2022-23. The plant will be able to produce 50,000 trucks each year. In addition, a robotic paint shop, chassis sub-assembly, and quality assurance testing facility will be established.

In addition to long-range EVs, Triton EV specialises in lithium battery cells and electric vehicle controllers. In the United States, the firm makes electric semi-trucks, SUVs, electric cars, defence electric vehicles, and electric rickshaws.
