BMW F 450 GS Launch On April 23

The BMW F 450 GS has been showcased globally and is now ready for its India debut in production form. With its launch scheduled for April 23, the motorcycle is expected to arrive in showrooms shortly after, with bookings and pricing likely to be announced on the same day. This model will serve as the most accessible GS offering in India, filling the gap left by the discontinued G 310 GS while moving the lineup forward with a more advanced platform. The F 450 GS carries forward BMW's signature adventure styling with a tall stance, upright ergonomics, and a distinctive front beak. The design is inspired by larger GS models, giving it a strong visual identity. On the hardware front, the bike is equipped with USD front forks and a rear monoshock setup. It rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, which is typical for adventure motorcycles. Dual-purpose tyres further enhance their ability to handle mixed terrain conditions.
At the core of the BMW F 450 GS is a newly developed parallel-twin engine with a displacement of around 450cc. This motor produces approximately 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque, offering a noticeable step up over the previous single-cylinder setup. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, the motorcycle also features a quickshifter for smoother gear transitions. The engine is designed to deliver a balance between everyday usability and long-distance touring capability, making it suitable for both city riding and highway journeys.

Features & Tech
BMW has equipped the F 450 GS with a comprehensive feature set for its segment. It gets a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation support, along with multiple riding modes such as Rain, Road, and Enduro. Additional features include traction control, advanced braking systems, and engine management aids designed to improve riding safety and control. The inclusion of systems like Engine Drag Control and BMW's Easy Ride Clutch further enhances usability, especially in varying riding conditions.
Globally, the F 450 GS is offered in multiple variants, including Basic, Sport and Trophy trims. It remains to be seen which of these will be introduced in India at launch. In terms of pricing, the motorcycle is expected to be positioned around the Rs. 5 lakh mark (ex-showroom), placing it competitively within the mid-capacity adventure segment.
