BMW F 450 R Teased, Reveal Set For October 1

BMW Motorrad has posted a teaser of the upcoming F 450 R on its social media handles, confirming that the motorcycle will be revealed on October 1. It will be the second bike based on BMW’s 450 platform and will sit as the brand’s new entry-level street-naked motorcycle. The teaser gives us a few details about what to expect, so let’s take a closer look.

BMW F 450 R Teased

The BMW F 450 R will be the brand’s new entry-level naked roadster and a replacement for the G 310 R. It is expected to share its internal components, basic platform and overall design silhouette with the F 450 GS. Power is likely to come from the 420cc twin-cylinder engine used in the adventure bike, producing 48hp and 43Nm.

BMW could carry over the engine with a different tune for the roadster. The F 450 GS also gets BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) system, but it remains unclear whether the F 450 R will get the same technology.

Also, the teaser image shows a USD fork and the same alloy wheel design as the standard F 450 GS. Being a roadster, the F 450 R should have shorter suspension travel than the adventure bike. The headlight design also appears to be carried over, including the same X-shaped DRLs positioned in the centre.

BMW F 450 R expected Price and Rivals

BMW recently increased the price of the F 450 GS, which now starts at Rs 4.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The F 450 R is expected to sit below the GS in BMW’s line-up, although the company will reveal its pricing closer to the launch.

The upcoming roadster will rival the likes of the Aprilia Tuono 457, priced at Rs 4.03 lakh, and the KTM 390 Duke, which costs Rs 2.84 lakh. It will also become BMW’s new entry point into the middleweight roadster segment.

BMW has confirmed that the motorcycle will be revealed on October 1, 2026, at 5:30pm IST. We expect the company to announce its specifications, features and prici during the reveal.
