The Datsun redi-GO is currently available as one of the most affordable cars in the Indian market and gets an appealing design language. High ground clearance and an aggressive front fascia give it a unique identity. Having said this, if you are in the market to buy a small hatchback, check out all these Datsun redi-GO pros and cons.
1. Affordable Pricing
With a starting price of just Rs 2.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Datsun redi-GO happens to be one of the most affordable cars on sale in the country right now and is offered as a well-packaged product by the brand in the Indian market.
2. Funky and Aggressive Looks
The new facelift Datsun red-GO BS6 model gets a very aggressive and a sporty front fascia which makes the car look extremely appealing and unique. The compact footprint and a tall-boy design give it a very funky look, especially when seen from the sides.
3. Practical Urban Car
As I mentioned before, the Datsun redi-GO is offered as a compact vehicle which gets a high-set seat and segment-leading ground clearance. In addition to this, large glass area helps in improving the overall visibility from the driver's seat. All this makes it a great car for urban usage as the Datsun redi-GO happens to be one of the best cars in terms of overall ease of driving, especially for the new drivers.
The new Datsun red-GO BS6 gets a maximum boot capacity of 222 litres which is much better than its rivals like the Maruti Alto 800. The boot is now only big for a car of this size but is also wide enough to gulp in significant luggage. In addition to this, there are plenty of storage spaces inside the cabin and there are a few storage spaces to store a big water bottle in the door pads as well.
5. Fuel-Efficient Engines
The buyers of the Datsun redi-GO have two engine options to choose from which include a 0.8-L and a 1.0-L engine which can be had with a slick-shifting manual as well as an AMT gearbox. Both these engines score good ratings in terms of overall refinement and are highly fuel-efficient as well.
1. Highway Performance
A softer suspension setup and a tall stance take a toll on the overall highspeed dynamics of the Datsun redi-GO which makes it a more suitable car for urban usage. In addition to this, small tyres and a smaller footprint does hamper the highspeed stability and braking performance.
2. After-Sales Support
The overall after-sales support offered by the brand is not the best in the segment and there is a severe dearth of service centres in most parts of the country. Moreover, the brand should improve the parts availability and overall service experience.
3. Built To Cost
While the car definitely scores high in terms of looks, the overall build quality is not very great. In addition to this, the quality of the plastics used inside the cabin is not great and could have been better.
4. Resale Value
Datsun vehicles, despite being VFM and highly practical, do not fetch a high resale value when compared to the direct rivals. If you are in the market to buy a vehicle and sell it off after using it for a short while, the Datsun redi-GO may not be a great choice for you.
5. Better Products Available In The Market
While the Datsun redi-GO is a VFM product, better cars like the Renault Kwid are available in the market which are significantly better than the Datsun redi-Go.
