Tata Punch and Punch EV Price Hiked By Upto Rs 20,000 - Details

Tata Motors has announced a price hike on its best-selling Punch lineup. The Tata Punch price increase goes up to Rs 10,000 for the ICE version, while the Tata Punch EV price hike touches Rs 20,000 depending on the variant. Both models are among Tata's best sellers, with the brand selling around 13,158 electric cars in August 2026 and holding close to 43% market share. This price revision comes into effect immediately, with no changes to features or equipment on either model.

Tata Punch Price Hike

The ICE avatar of the Tata Punch will now cost you Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 more, depending on which variant you choose. With this hike, the Tata Punch price now ranges between Rs 5.75 lakh and Rs 10.77 lakh, ex-showroom. The revised prices apply across the full lineup of the Punch, so every buyer who will buy Punch in September has to pay a little more than they would have in August.

Tata Punch EV Price: Variant-Wise

The Tata Punch EV is offered with two battery pack options, 30kWh and 40kWh, spread across six variants. The Smart and Smart+ trims that use the smaller 30kWh pack have become costlier by Rs 10,000. Likewise, the remaining 40kWh variants, which include Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ S, have seen a hike of Rs 20,000.

Buyers who want a lower entry point can still go for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) route, where the car will be priced at Rs 6.49 lakh and you will be charged 2.6 per km separately for the battery.

Why Tata Has Raised Prices

Tata Motors says the hike comes down to rising input costs and ongoing investment in design and development. The brand had already hinted at a lineup-wide price adjustment of up to Rs 25,000 across its ICE and EV models, so this fits right into that plan. Besides that nothing changes under the hood, the powertrain, features, and specifications on both the Punch and Punch EV remain exactly as they were, only the price has moved.

The Punch EV's specs remain untouched too. The 30kWh variants use a 65kW motor with a certified range of 365-375km, while the 40kWh variants pack a stronger 95kW motor and a certified range of 468km. Both battery options support fast charging, with a 20-80% top-up taking around 26 minutes on a 65kW DC charger.

Should You Buy Now Or Wait?

The straight answer is that if you've already made your mind to go for the Punch or Punch EV, this hike is a good enough reason to move quickly, since the car itself hasn't changed, only the price has gone up. Tata's dealerships are processing new bookings at the revised rates already, so anyone hoping to lock in the older pricing will need to check with their nearest showroom on stock availability. With rivals like the Citroen eC3, MG Comet EV, and Windsor EV all competing for the same buyers, the Punch EV's blend of practicality and price still keeps it near the top of the sub-4m EV segment, even with this latest increase.
