Fisker Inc. India To Begin EV Development In Hyderabad

Since the EV wave has hit India, manufacturers all over the world are keen to enter into the Indian market. The Indian EV offerings being limited at this stage can prove to be a boon for the OEMs who begin their operations and get hold of the market share at this stage. Fisker Inc., an American EV manufacturer, is promoted by Henrik Fisher, who is the renowned designer of BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9 and many more supercars. Fisker Inc. in India has decided to set up a technology centre in Hyderabad and begin its research and development operations.

Fisker Inc. offers the feature loaded Ocean as its only offering in three different variants, namely Sport, Ultra and Extreme, with varying power outputs and drivetrain layouts. One of the major USPs is the use of a Nickel Manganese Cobalt battery offered in the top-spec trims, which helps to maximise range to a great extent. They plan to bring the initially Ocean through a CBU route and would pass on the manufacturing to 'Foxconn- The iPhone Manufacturer in India'.

Fisker Inc. plans to get hold of the EV share in India before Tesla because of the heavy consumption and recent awareness in India. Additionally, the Co-Founder, CFO & COO of Fisker Inc, Dr. Geeta Gupta Fisker has a personal connection with India and aims to overcome all the challenges to introduce EVs in India.

Fisker Inc. is currently developing a sub- Rs. 30 Lakh EV called the PEAR, which stands for "Personal Electric Automotive Revolution". The PEAR is planned to be manufactured entirely in India from scratch. Fisker has already received over 25,000 bookings worldwide, including India, thus expects to reach an annual sales target of 250,000 units within the upcoming years.
