Honda Africa Twin Recalled In India Over This Electrical Issue!

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has announced a voluntary recall campaign for its flagship adventure motorcycle, the Honda Africa Twin. The action, aligned with Honda's global recall program, affects select units manufactured between 2019 and 2025. Honda Africa Twin: Why the Recall?

The recall for the Honda Africa Twin was initiated after Honda identified a potential issue with the harness wire of the left handle switch. Continuous steering movement can lead to repeated bending of the wire, which, over time, may cause oxidation at the joint terminal. This could result in conduction problems, affecting key functions such as the horn and headlight beam switch. While the defect doesn't compromise the bike's core performance, Honda is addressing the concern to avoid any inconvenience or safety risks for riders.

Recall Process & Dealer Support

Honda has confirmed that the replacement of affected parts will begin from the fourth week of January 2026, exclusively at BigWing Topline dealerships across India. The replacement will be carried out free of cost, regardless of the vehicle's warranty status. To ensure smooth coordination, Honda will proactively contact customers via call, SMS, or email. Owners can also verify whether their Africa Twin is covered under the recall by entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Honda's official website. Advance service appointment booking is encouraged to minimise dealership wait times.

This isn't the first time the Africa Twin has faced a recall in India. Back in November 2024, Honda issued a campaign for units manufactured between February and October 2022, addressing ECU-related concerns. Much like the current case, that recall was also part of a broader global initiative to maintain consistent quality standards.

Africa Twin in India

For enthusiasts, the Honda Africa Twin has always stood out as one of the most capable adventure motorcycles on sale. Powered by a 1,048 cc parallel-twin engine producing 100.5 bhp and 112 Nm, it came with a 6-speed manual as well as Honda's sophisticated DCT automatic gearbox. However, the bike was temporarily withdrawn from the Indian lineup after the implementation of BS6 Phase 2 norms. Honda is expected to reintroduce the Africa Twin to the market in 2026, once again catering to India's growing premium adventure segment.
