Hyundai Motor India Private Limited is on a roll. The Indian subsidiary of this South Korean car manufacturer is going all guns blazing. Hyundai started the year 2020 with the launch of the new Aura sub-compact sedan. Then, a lot of new cars were showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The most important among them was the highly-anticipated new-generation Creta. The new 2020 Hyundai Creta was launched in India very recently and within a short span of time, it has started showing its prowess. The Creta and the Venue are Hyundai's bread and butter products in India. Now, due to the outstanding performance of these utility vehicles, Hyundai becomes the SUV Leader in India for the first quarter of FY 2020-21.
Hyundai Motor Company has just revealed its sales figures for the first quarter of the financial year 2020-21. Hyundai currently sells four utility vehicles in India. These are Venue, Creta, Kona Electric and the Tucson SUV. Hyundai has revealed its sales figures for the month of April, May, June and July 2020. In the month of April, there was a complete nationwide lockdown and so not a single unit has been sold. From May, the businesses started resuming their operations to bring the derailed Indian economy back on the track. In May 2020, Hyundai sold 4,458 utility vehicles and in June 2020, it retailed 11,382 utility vehicles. Shattering all previous records of recent times, Hyundai sold 18,372 utility vehicles in the month of July this year.

The model-wise sales chart of Hyundai's Utility Vehicles is shown below:

So, as you can see in the table above, in the last 3 months over 34,212 units of Hyundai utility vehicles have been sold in India. This includes 21,968 units of the all-new Creta, 12,105 units of the Venue, 46 units of the Kona Electric and 93 units of Tucson SUV. Hyundai has also compared these figures with the sales figures of other utility vehicle manufacturers. In the same period, Maruti Suzuki sold 32,577 units of utility vehicles. Indian UV giant Mahindra and Mahindra retailed 22,477 units while Kia Motors sold 17,438 units of UVs. Thus, undeniably for the first quarter of FY 2020-21, Hyundai becomes the SUV Leader in India with the highest sales figures.
However, do note that in the coming months, a lot of new utility vehicles will be launched in India. Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the new S-Cross Petrol. The World Premiere of the Kia Sonet will take place on the 7th of August 2020 and its market launch will take place in September this year. Mahindra will also launch the new-generation Thar, XUV 500 and Scorpio in the coming months. The future of the Indian Automotive Industry is really exciting. It will be interesting to see how these upcoming utility vehicles perform in the Indian market. In other news, the new Hyundai Creta has already bagged 55,000 bookings and the Venue is also performing really well.
