New Volkswagen Tiguan: Safety

Volkswagen has added some major accident prevention technologies in the new Tiguan, which can be considered the major reason for the impressive Euro NCAP crash test results.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan gets some significant feature enhancements such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It also comes with an exit warning system that doesn't allow the occupant to open doors whenever it detects any vehicle near or coming toward the car. The India-bound SUV also gets side airbags which enhances the safety of rear passengers.
New Volkswagen Tiguan: Engine
The VW Tiguan is on offer with two PHEV powertrains: 201 bhp and 265 bhp. The Plug-in Hybrid models come equipped with a 19.7 kWh battery which provides a driving range of 100 km (all-electric).
The automaker also offers a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, coupled with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. There's also a 2.0-litre unit option that churns out 201 bhp and 261 bhp. Apart from these options, VW has also kept a diesel engine on option in two forms of tuning- 148 bhp and 190 bhp.
New VW Tiguan: India Launch
However, the VW has made no official announcement regarding the launch of the third-gen VW Taigun in India. But the SUV will surely make its way to India which is expected by late 2024 or early 2025.

Verdict
The new Tiguan aced the Euro NCAP tests with top marks in safety, especially for children. Packed with advanced driver assistance systems and airbags, it's a strong contender for the safest SUV in its class, but we might have to wait until next year to see it on Indian roads. Taking hint from the previous trends, there are expectations that VW will only launch the petrol models in India.
