Kawasaki Ninja 300 BS4 Discontinued; BS6 In The Works?

Japanese bike manufacturer Kawasaki has discontinued their highest selling motorcycle in India, the Ninja 300. According to reports, the production was stopped in the October-November 2019 and dealers are just clearing the stock as of now.

The manufacturer has taken this step to introduce a newer BS6 engine to the bike. For those asking when they can get their hands on the BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 300 then they have to wait for a few months as the new model won't be available before April 1, 2020.

The bike will go on sale in the months of August-September only as they need time for developing the engine followed by testing the same. Reports also suggest that the Ninja 300 might be replaced by the more powerful Ninja 400 only.

Talking about the specifications of the Kawasaki Ninja300 BS4, it receives a 296cc, fuel injected, liquid cooled petrol motor. This produces 39 bhp at 11,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 27 Nm at 10,000 rpm. It gets a 6-speed gearbox.

Suspension wise the bike gets a telescopic hydraulic fork at the front and bottom link uni-trak with gas charged shock at the rear. Braking is handled by a 290mm front disc and the rear gets a 220 mm disc.

Other features of the bike include a digital speedometer and odometer, low fuel and oil indicator and among others. The bike gets dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS).

Recently, Kawasaki also recalled the Ninja 300 manufactured from August 16, 2018, to March 12, 2019, over the faulty brake issue. A total of 1,358 units of the locally made bike were recalled.

Now, continuing on the reports which suggest that the Ninja 300 might be replaced by a more powerful Ninja 400. It can be true as globally this process is already in process. The 400cc Ninja is a better buy as it offers more performance and features. However, the elder sibling is dearer by a whopping Rs 2 lakh. Let's see what's in store for the Kawasaki lovers as manufacturers take on a new leap.
