Kia India has announced prices for the factory-fitted CNG versions of the Carens and Carens Clavis, expanding its multi-powertrain lineup. The Carens CNG starts at Rs. 12.11 lakh, while the Carens Clavis CNG starts at Rs. 12.38 lakh, both ex-showroom.
The new CNG variants combine the practicality of Kia's three-row models with the running-cost benefits of CNG, making them an additional powertrain option for family and everyday use.
Both models feature a 60-litre CNG tank integrated alongside the petrol fuel system. Despite the additional CNG hardware, Kia has retained space for a spare tyre, maintaining the practicality of the three-row models.
Powertrain and Features
The Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG are powered by the Smartstream G1.5 engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. In CNG mode, the engine produces 96 PS and 123 Nm of torque.
The CNG variants also receive model-specific engine tuning and suspension changes. Other highlights include R16 wheels, 16-inch front disc brakes, a CNG fuel-change switch and a 4.2-inch colour TFT instrument cluster displaying CNG range information.
Kia has also redesigned the third-row seat-back frame to improve the recline angle and enhance rear-seat comfort.
Variants and Pricing
The Carens CNG is available in one variant, while the Carens Clavis CNG is offered in two variants, taking the total CNG variants across both models to three.
