Kia Carens CNG

The CNG trim on the Kia Carens is a government-approved kit from Lovato, and it comes with 3 years of warranty or 1 lakh km, whichever comes first. For this, Kia is asking Rs 77,900 over the Premium O variant it is based on. It is connected to the 1.5L MPi petrol engine, but the power figures aren't available yet.
Also, the trim is a base variant but still comes with plenty of features such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6 speakers, a rearview camera with guidelines, a 12.5-inch instrument cluster, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and LED turn signals.

Lastly, this 7-seater MPV with a petrol engine and a 5-speed gearbox has been well accepted by Indians. Its new iteration, the Carens Clavis, takes the premium quotient to another level. However, since the Carens remains highly popular in the fleet market, Kia made the smart decision to not discontinue it. Instead, the brand retained a single trim, and with the addition of the CNG option, its sales are expected to get a solid boost.

Verdict
This is great news for potential buyers, as with CNG, their long journeys will become significantly cheaper. The car is expected to deliver over 20 km/kg of mileage on highways. Now, it will compete against the segment king, the Ertiga, although the Carens being offered in just one variant could be a drawback. Let's see how customers respond to it.
