Earlier this year, KTM ventured into the small-displacement adventure sports category and launched the KTM 390 Adventure in India. The KTM 390 Adventure is currently the first and the only travel-enduro motorcycle from the Austrian manufacturer in India. However, soon things are gonna change as KTM is gearing up to launch its new quarter-litre adventure sport motorcycle. The upcoming KTM 250 Adventure has been spied on test in India once again hinting its imminent launch in the country.
The KTM 390 Adventure made its public debut at the EICMA 2019 held in Milan, Italy. Later, it was showcased at the India Bike Week in December 2019 held at Goa and the motorcycle was finally launched early this year. The KTM fanboys were expecting the 250 Adventure to also make its debut at the India Bike Week, but sadly that didn't happen. However, it was revealed in November 2019 on KTMs Indonesian website and we came to know everything about this upcoming adventure motorcycle.
This is not the first instance when the KTM 250 Adventure has been spotted in India. Previously also, the KTM 250 Adventure has been spied on test in India multiple times. The latest spy shots hint that KTM might launch it very soon. This test mule has been spotted on the outskirts of Pune. These images have been doing the rounds of WhatsApp groups. If you know the one who clicked these images, share it with us and we will give due credits. With the 250 Adventure, KTM wants to cater the masses as it has lower displacement and will be significantly affordable too.
Talking about the looks of the motorcycle, so as you can see it gets sharp tank extensions just like the 390 Adventure. However, it looks skinnier as it gets a smaller engine. Also, the tyres are thin compared to its bigger sibling. The test mule was semi-camouflaged and the 5.0-inch TFT instrument cluster is also clearly visible. The biggest differentiating factor between the 390 Adventure and the 250 Adventure will be their front fascia. The 390 Adventure gets all-LED headlamps with LED DRLs while the 250 Adventure gets halogen bulbs.
Powering the KTM 250 Adventure will be a BS6-compliant 248.8cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. This is the same motor that also does its duty on the Duke 250. It will churn out 30 PS of power at 9000 RPM and 24 Nm of torque at 7250 RPM. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 250 Adventure will get 43 mm upside-down (USD) front forks and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear. It will get a 320 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. It will get KTMs off-road ABS too. The motorcycle will ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tyre.
This was all about the upcoming KTM 250 Adventure. The 250 Adventure was earlier expected to be launched by mid-2020. However, due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, the launch has been delayed. It is now expected to hit the showroom floors by the festive season or by the end of this year. The KTM 250 Adventure is expected to be priced under Rs. 2.40 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi. If KTM really manages to price it well, it will definitely be a hit just like the 390 Adventure.
