KTM 390 Adventure Fuel Economy Test [VIDEO]

One of the best adventure-cum-touring motorcycles in India is the KTM 390 Adventure. Launched a few months back, this is an apt bike for those who want a multi-tasking motorcycling including one for highway rides. As most road trips involve long highway stints, owners and enthusiasts often ask us about the bike's mileage. And this is where our KTM 390 Adventure fuel economy run comes into the picture. The KTM 390 Adventure comes with the same motor that powers the Duke 390 and RC 390 as well. This 373.2cc single cylinder motor pumps out 43.5 PS of power and 37 Nm of torque. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the bike loves chewing up miles while you get nearer to your off-beat destination. Likewise, a lot of owners will be using the bike on open roads and hence the idea of this video. The 14.5 litre fuel tank is generous too. Can the bike deliver enough in tems of a 400+ km range?

We decided to use the WPE and EPE (Western / Eastern Peripheral Expressway) that runs around the capital city of New Delhi. We rode for a total of 175km and as the bike was relatively new and the highway empty, we kept an indicated 90 km/h on the speedometer. This KTM 390 Adventure fuel economy run was done on a tankful to tankful basis. This is what the multi-info screen showed during the ride.

Post the ride, we filled up the bike again to the brim and she took in a total of 5.13 litres, thus translating into a genuine fuel economy of 34.01 kmpl. This also means the on-board display has an error of just 2.5% which is more than acceptable. If you wish to ride the bike at a faster pace of 95-100km/h, we feel it will still deliver 30kmpl+ which is fantastic for a 43.5 PS engine. This also gives it a highway range of 450+km!
