Mahindra jeeps have always been known for their reliablity and go anywhere characteristics. While there one a number of models of these super robust vehicles, there was one model which was selected by the Army and boasted supreme capbilities and a tough build. Yes, I am talking about the Mahindra MM550XD. The MM550XD was available only for defense operations and was based on the CJ series from USA. So ladies and gentlemen fasten your seat belts as we dive into our journer of Walking Down The Memory Lane, as we bring you the Mahindra MM550XD brochure images this time. The Mahindra MM550XD was avialble with a soft top and featured a very potent 4WD system. The vehicle was avialable with a number of military fitments like jerry can carrier, pintle hook, pintle hock reinforcement, lifting handles, lashing ring, blackout equipment, brush guard for lights and showel carrier. With this being said, the MM550XD also boasted a payload capacity of 625 kgs while it came with a 7+1 seating configuration. The tyres were made for off-road use and the total weight of the vehicle stood at 1425 kgs with Army fitments.

Powering the MM550XD was a XD3 PE 2.5-L diesel engine that churned out 62.5 PS while the peak torque output stood at 141 Nm. The engine came mated to a 4-speed synchromesh manual gearbox which chanelled the power to all four wheels via a 4WD system. The vehcile has a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres and had hydraulic assisted braking system with disc brakes at front and drum brakes at the rear.
The Mahindra MM550XD continued to serve the Indian defense services for a long period of time and was later discontinued by the Indian carmaker. The vehciles which have coompleted these service life are now being auctioned in the market by the Government.
