Indian vehicle customers have prioritized safety, and now manufacturers are concentrating on this as well. Some  Indian automakers are now focusing on producing safe, feature-rich vehicles for the domestic market.Among these Mahindra is one of the manufacturers building safe cars for India.  The Scorpio N SUV was introduced by the company earlier in June, and the Scorpio N has recently undergone crash testing as part of the #SaferCarsforIndia initiative by GNCAP (Global New Car Assessment Program). The SUV did well, earning ratings of 5 stars for adult and 3 stars for child safety.

Mahindra Scorpio N GNCAP Result

Under the GNCAP test standards and procedures the Mahindra Scorpio N has scored 29.25 points out of 34 points in adult protection and 28.93 points out of 49 points in child protection. These points helped the car to score 5 star and 3 star in adult and child safety respectively.

The head and neck of the driver and passenger received good protection in a frontal collision. The chests of the driver and passenger showed only mediocre protection. Knees of the driver and passenger displayed good protection. The side head protection airbags performed well in side pole impact, passed the fitment standards and provided satisfactory protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis but inadequate protection for the chest.

The ESC complies with the fitting rate specifications, and the test results met the most recent Global NCAP standards for performance. The Scorpio N's bodyshell and footwell area were both stable, according to GNCAP, and the latter could withstand additional loads.

Multiple airbags, an ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, reverse parking sensors, speed-sensing door locks, hill hold control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front-seat belt reminders, and other safety features are included in the Mahindra Scorpio N's safety features.

Mahindra Scorpio N Pricing & Variants

There are five trim levels for the Mahindra Scorpio N: Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8, and Z8L. Customers can choose between the Z8 and Z8L's 6 and 7-seat configurations, while the rest only receives the 7-seat configuration as standard. The prices of the SUV starts from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to Rs 23.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Verdict: In the list of Mahindra vehicles with a 5-star safety rating, the Scorpio N has joined the XUV300 and XUV700. The SUV presently has one of the longest waiting lists, but now that it has received a new safety rating, customers will give it more thought before making a purchase.
