Mahindra Thar Crosses 70,000 Open Bookings In February 2024

Mahindra Thar: Clocks 70,000 Open Bookings In February

As of February 2024, Mahindra has not yet delivered 71,000 units of the Mahindra Thar lifestyle SUV. These figures, encompassing the RWD versions, continue to climb with an average of 7,000 units in new bookings each month. The number indicates a strong demand for Thar even when the 5-door version is inching fast towards its launch timeline.

Mahindra released fresh insights into their February 2024 performance where new bookings continue to surge at 50,000 per month, with car deliveries reaching 40,000 in the same period. While cancellations make up 10% of bookings, the overall demand paints a rosy picture for the Indian automaker. This number will rise even further with the launch of the 5-door version.

Engine Details

The Thar is offered with both 4WD and 2WD options. The 2WD variant is available with either a 1.5-liter diesel or a 2.0-liter petrol engine, while the 4WD version comes with a 2.2-liter diesel or a 1.5-liter petrol unit. Both versions are offered with manual or automatic transmissions.

The 2.0-liter petrol engine produces 150bhp@5000rpm and torque of 320Nm@1500-3000rpm. The 1.5-liter diesel engine generates 116.93bhp@3500rpm and torque of 300Nm@1750-2500rpm. The 2.2-liter diesel engine delivers 130 Ps power with a peak torque of 300 Nm.
