Mahindra Unveils 5 Born Electric SUVs - First Launch in 2024

On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day, Mahindra & Mahindra finally unveiled their Born Electric SUV range. Five new electric SUVs have been unveiled by the company under the XUV and BE brand names, respectively. Five e-SUVs have been used to display the personification of these two brands: the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. Between 2024 and 2026, the first four of these are scheduled for launch.

Along with Volkswagen's MEB platform, the SUVs will underpin the newly introduced the INGLO (Indian Global) EV platform. All future Mahindra EVs will be built on the state-of-the-art INGLO platform. The platform will boast class-leading safety standards, thrilling performance, exceptional range and efficiency, exceptional driving dynamics, adaptability, and sophisticated HMI are all features of the INGLO.

Battery Technology

Mahindra Born Electric vehicles will use two distinct cutting-edge cell architecturesBlade and Prismaticin a single battery pack design with lean modules and standardised cell-to-pack technologies. offered with options for battery capacities of 60 to 80 kWhr, shielded for an amazing 175 kW fast-charge, and charging up to 80% in under 30 minutes. Improved range, longevity, and safety will be provided by the intelligent and effective Battery Management System with high precision, greater robustness, and functional safety.

The powertrain consists of a small all-in-one electric engine that has a motor, inverter, and gearbox built into a single unit. Both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive will be available, with impressive outputs of 227 bhp to 282 bhp and staggering 335 bhp to 389 bhp, respectively. Standstill to 100 kmph is promised in between 5 and 6 seconds.

Features

Launch Timeline

Mahindra has revealed the launch timeline of the upcoming SUVs as well as few of their specifications.

Mahindra XUV e8

In December 2024, the Mahindra Born Electric SUV portfolio will debut with the Mahindra XUV e8 as its first launch. The XUV e8 will have dimensions of 4740 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, 1760 mm in height, and 2762 mm in wheelbase. It will be built on the INGLO platform. In order to provide the best possible ride comfort on and off the road. It will also be equipped with a modern cabin and a clever all-wheel drive system.

Mahindra XUV e9

The XUV e9, which will debut as the second vehicle in the lineup, has the following dimensions: 4790 mm in length, 1905 mm in width, 1690 mm in height, and 2775 mm in wheelbase. This will feature the same INGLO platform as the XUV e8. In April 2025, the XUV e9 is scheduled to launch.

BE 05

Mahindra will solely provide electric vehicles under the BE brand, and the BE 05 will be the brand's first vehicle. With dimensions of 4370 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, 1635 mm in height, and 2775 mm in wheelbase, it will be smaller than the XUV e8 and e9. It will use the same INGLO platform and feature a racing-inspired bold design. The launch is slated to take place in October 2025.

BE 07

The BE 07 will have dimensions of 4565 mm in length, 1900 mm in width, 1660 mm in height, and 2775 mm in wheelbase and it will be launched in October 2026. It will be made to provide a first-class experience and will have customizable profiles, adaptability, and customised multi-sensory experiences.

BE 09

The BE 09 will be a grand tourer that appears to be a three-row electric SUV. The BE 09 SUV's dimensions and expected release date have not been made public by the manufacturer.
