Mahindra has launched the third model in its electric-origin SUV lineup today, called the XEV 9S, at a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). From its looks and size, it may remind you of an electric version of the popular XUV700, but it is actually another extension of the INGLO platform. Mahindra XEV 9S

The XEV 9S is a SUV which expands the portfolio of cars build on INGLO platform, and it brings the same set of features and performance, that we have seen in XEV 9e and BE 6. So, there are the same 59/79 kWh battery packs, powering the rear wheels only. That said, a new battery pack has been introduced this time to strike a balance between the two of 70 kWh, that Plus, the suspension duties are handled by the familiar, independent and multi-link FDD suspension.

Taking about features on offer, we have the similar coast-to-coast triple (12.3 inch) screen setup, operated by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Then, there are two BYOD units, for rear passengers, so in total this car can handle 5 screens. For exceptional musical experience, Mahindra adds 16-speaker Harman Kardon Audio with Dolby Atmos.

Variants

Mahindra says the XEV 9S will be available in six variants, with bookings opening on 14th January 2026 and customer deliveries commencing on 23rd January 2026. Here are the names of all the variants on offer:

Dimensions

The XEV 9S is built around one core idea - maximising space. Its electric-origin INGLO platform frees up room in every row, creating an open, comfortable three-row cabin. With dimensions of 4,915 mm in length, 1,903 mm in width and 1,690 mm in height, plus a 2,775 mm wheelbase, the SUV offers generous room for all passengers. Practicality stands out too: you get 280 litres of boot space with all rows up, expanding to a massive 1,853 litres when the second and third rows are folded. A 20-litre frunk adds quick-access storage, making the XEV 9S truly versatile for everyday family use.

Verdict
Mahindra's XEV 9S enters the market as a well-priced, feature-rich electric 7-seater, with variants starting at Rs 19.95 lakh and topping out at Rs 29.45 lakh. The multiple battery options, long claimed range and a wide spread of features across packs make it a strong value proposition for families considering a spacious EV. While real-world performance and charging consistency will decide its long-term appeal, the launch overall positions the XEV 9S as a competitive and compelling new entrant in India's growing electric SUV space.
