Mercedes-Benz India has launched the AMG G63 Offroad Pro variant at Rs 3.80 Cr (ex-showroom). This will be a limited unit variant, and as the name suggests, its core competence lies in off-roading. Equipped with AMG active ride control suspension, a roof luggage rack, and 20-inch off-road wheels, this edition is made for people who take their G-Class to jungles. Mercedes-AMG G63 Offroad Pro
At its core, this is still the same G63, powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h, with power sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. There’s also a 48V mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter-generator, which provides additional assistance when needed.
The changes are mainly at the suspension level, with the G63 now getting AMG Active Ride Control. It is an electronic system that adds active roll stabilisation to the standard setup. The system adjusts itself depending on the selected drive mode and allows the wheels to work more independently, helping maintain contact with the ground when one wheel is lifted off the surface or another is stuck in deep mud.
Apart from this, there are two new drive modes: Rock and Sand. As their names suggest, they are designed specifically for these surfaces and help the G63 find traction when it gets stuck. The SUV also lets the driver choose from up to seven levels of differential lock. With AMG Active Balance Control, the driver can further adjust the suspension to make it stiffer or softer and control body roll. There are three levels to choose from, depending on how challenging the terrain is.
There’s a redesigned off-road cockpit too, tucked into the dashboard. It displays vehicle positioning, compass heading, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and diff-lock status in one place.
Design Changes?
There are no specific design changes. At heart, it’s the same G63, now with new 20-inch twin-spoke wheels wrapped in 275/50 R20 rubber. There’s also a professional roof rack as standard, along with a removable ladder.
Inside, there’s nothing new. It’s the same setup, with Nappa leather seats, a 12.3-inch driver display and infotainment screen powered by Mercedes’ MBUX NTG7 hardware, along with augmented-reality navigation.

This is a limited-run variant of the G63, made for people who will actually use it for its intended purpose, rather than just flexing it on Instagram. It’s also Rs 6 lakh more expensive than the standard G 63, which makes it even more special. But that’s just the information on paper. It’ll be interesting to see how it performs in the jungle, where we’ll really get to test its strengths.
