MG Hector & Hector Plus Facelift

The new MG Hector facelift is currently making headlines online with various spy shots and teaser images. One noticeable update is the larger grille with chrome inserts, which gives the vehicle a more commanding presence. While there are no changes to the headlamps or DRLs, the bumper will undergo minor revisions to complement the new grille design. The latest teaser also showcases a new set of alloys that enhance the sporty appearance while maintaining the same tire size. At the rear, we expect a revised tail lamp design, although only the interior elements will be updated; the entire taillight unit will remain unchanged.

The brand is anticipated to introduce a new interior color that enhances its premium appeal. While most of the existing features will be retained, the screen software is expected to receive updates, along with an increase to 10GB of RAM and the addition of the iSwipe feature for gesture control operations. The gesture-based controls represent a significant improvement in usability. With a three-finger swipe, users can easily adjust the volume and select tracks, while a two-finger swipe allows for adjustments to the air conditioning temperature and blower speed.

The vehicle will continue to include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, a digital instrument console, and other features. The Hector already features a 14-inch screen that provides an immersive experience along with numerous built-in apps and an integrated climate control unit. The brand may also include additional safety features in the safety suite and enhance the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) capabilities.

2026 MG Hector & Hector Plus - Engines
The new Hector and Hector Plus will continue to offer the same engine options with the facelift as well. The Hector comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 143 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The other engine option is the 2.0-litre diesel, producing 170 PS of power and 350 NM of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only. The Hector Plus comes with the diesel engine only.
Verdict
The Hector is long overdue for an update, and with the refreshed avatar, it might finally get the freshness it currently lacks in the market. Going by the teasers and leaked images, the most significant update appears to be limited to the grille. In our opinion, the brand should have gone in for a more substantial update. That said, lets wait for the final unveil and see what the new Hector and Hector Plus have to offer.
