MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Gravitas - Spec Comparison

MG Motor and Tata Motors both showcased their upcoming 6/7 seater SUVs at the 2020 Auto Expo and both these models are scheduled to get launched this year itself. We are talking about the MG Hector Plus and Tata Gravitas which are the 6/7 seater iterations of MG Hector and Tata Harrier respecitvely. Once launched later this year, both cars will give tough competition to each other and both these cars have somethings in common too. We have prepared a spec comparison of MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Gravitas to see which one offers the most!

MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Gravitas- Exterior

MG Hector Plus is a stretched version of the Hector as it occupies 3 rows of seats. The length has gone up by 40mm though the wheelbase remains same. The looks have been slightly changed like the new pattern in DRLs, new housing of LED headlights and omission of the reflector from the tailgate. Tata Gravitas resembles the Harrier from the front with the same design theme. However, the D-pillar and the rear design is completely changed to occupy the third row of seats.

You can see the rest of the dimensions down in the table. MG Hector Plus gets 17-inch wheels whereas the Gravitas will get 18-inch alloy wheels.

MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Gravitas- Interior

MG Hector Plus continues with the same interior dashboard we see in the Hector and with the same amount of features too. However, instead of black leather for seats and dashboard, we get oak brown leather seats and dashboard in the Hector Plus. The big 10.4-inch touchscreen will get smart 2.0 with chit-chat function too. Basically you can have fun with your car's assistant every time the passenger seat is empty. MG Hector Plus will be available with both 6 and 7 seater variants where the 6-seater variants will get individual captain chairs for the middle row.

Tata Gravitas also gets the same dashboard design in the Harrier with same features carried forward too. However, it uses a lighter colour theme and we will get to see an electronic parking brake in the Gravitas which is missing in the Harrier. Tata Gravitas will also get all the bells and whistles you ever need in your car. Horizontally placed 8.8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple Car Play and connected car features, panoramic sunroof, individual captain chairs in the middle row for 6-seater variants etc. Both the Hector Plus and Gravitas will also get 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ISOFIX anchorages, electronic stability program, speed sensing alarm, seatbelt reminders etc.

MG Hector Plus Vs Tata Gravitas- Engines and Performance

Talking about the diesel engine, both the cars will get the same FCA sourced 2.0-litre Multijet 2 diesel engine which churns out 168 Hp and 350 Nm of peak torque. MG Hector will get 6-speed manual whereas the Gravitas will get 6-speed manual and Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic box too.

Talking about the petrol engines now, MG Hector will get the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which we see in the regular Hector and it churns out 143 Ps and 250 Nm of torque mated with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT box. However, we aren't sure whether the Hector Plus will get the hybrid variant or not. In rumours, we have heard that Tata is also working on a new petrol engine which will be a 4-cylinder derivative of the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine we see in the Nexon. This new engine will power the Harrier and Gravitas in future.

We don't know the exact variant and features break up by now and we will share them the day both the cars get unveiled or launched. MG Hector is expected to get launched somewhere around June 2020 and we shall also see the launch of the Gravitas near that timeline too. Stay tuned till then!
