Bajaj Auto has expanded its ever-popular Pulsar N160 lineup with two new models, the Pulsar N160 S and Pulsar N160 SS. The lauch marks the 25 years of the Pulsar brand, both motorcycles come equipped with a new engine, smarter electronics, and added tech over the standard N160, which will continue to be sold alongside. The N160 range has been one of Bajaj's fastest growing products lately, and with this expansion, the brand is clearly looking to build further on that momentum. As for the price the N160 S is priced at Rs 1.33 lakh (ex-showroom) while the range topping N160 SS comes in at Rs 1.42 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Design and Styling

The Bajaj N160 S and Pulsar N160 SS both the models stick to the sporty streetfighter look that has defined the N160 lineup so far, but the SS variant gets some extra visual treatment. It comes with sharper graphics, coloured alloy wheels, and a reworked handlebar angle and seat height aimed at improving rider comfort without losing the aggressive stance. The bikes will be offered in three colour options that includes Atlantic Blue, Pearl Metallic White, and Brooklyn Black. The existing N160's design cues like the projector LED headlamp and comfortable single seat carry over as well.
Engine And Performance

The biggest update sits under the fuel tank. Both the N160 S and N160 SS get a new 165cc 4 valve engine that puts out 18.5PS, which Bajaj claims is the highest power figure in the segment. Moreover, the bike can do 0-60km/h in just 4.5 seconds, which is again a segment best as per the brand.
Here's the engine spec table:
Spec | Pulsar N160 (2V) | Pulsar N160 S / SS (4V) |
|---|---|---|
Engine capacity | 164.9cc | 164.5cc |
Valve configuration | 2-Valve, SOHC | 4-Valve, SOHC |
Power | 16PS @ 8,750rpm | 18.5PS @ 9,500rpm |

Additionally, this engine becomes more interesting with the new Intelligent Throttle, or ETB, that Bajaj has introduced. It's an electronic throttle system that enables a smarter and more responsive power delivery, and it's also what unlocks the added rider tech on these bikes, things like multiple ride modes, traction control, and crawl assist. That said, both the motorcycles get four of them, Rain, Sport, Road, and Off-road, letting riders switch the character of the bike depending on where and how they're riding.
Suspension And Braking

Both motorcycles use the same hardware up front, a beefed up 37mm USD fork paired with a monoshock at the rear, up from the 33mm units on the outgoing N160. Where they differ is at the rear brake. The N160 S makes do with a 130mm drum and single channel ABS, while the N160 SS gets a bigger 230mm disc at the rear along with dual channel ABS for sharper stopping power. Both bikes share the same 300mm front disc.

The N160 SS also gets adjustable levers, while the N160 S sticks with fixed ones, a small but useful touch for riders who like to fine tune their reach to the clutch and brake.
Features And Safety

The Pulsar N160 SS is the more loaded of the two here. It gets Responsive Traction Control, powered by the same Intelligent Throttle system, which should help maintain grip in varying road conditions. It also comes with Crawl Technology, letting the bike move smoothly at low speeds in higher gears without constant clutch or gear input, something that should make crawling through traffic a lot less tiring.
On the tech front, the N160 SS also gets a 5-inch TFT console with Google Maps mirroring, which Bajaj claims is a first for any sports motorcycle in India. This should make navigation far more convenient without needing to glance at your phone mounted separately. The N160 S, while not getting the traction control or the maps mirroring, still benefits from the new engine and the ETB enabled ride modes
