Triumph Street Scrambler/ Tracker 400 Spied On Test

The upcoming bike continues Triumph's retro-inspired design language seen on the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, but with a few unique touches. The spy shots reveal a round LED headlamp with a small flyscreen, and a fuel tank that looks nearly identical to its siblings. However, there are some distinct differences. The bike gets new side panels with extended sections that appear designed to host racing-style number boards, adding to its tracker appeal.
At the rear, the tail-lamp design is different, resembling the Thruxton 400, giving it a sportier vibe. Like the Scrambler 400 X, the test mule also features rugged twin-muffler exhausts, adding visual muscle. Unlike the Scrambler 400 X's off-road-friendly setup, the new model appears to be more street-oriented with 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends, suggesting Triumph is targeting a flat tracker-style motorcycle rather than a pure off-roader.
Engine & Hardware

Under the skin, the Triumph Street Scrambler bike is expected to borrow the 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine from the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. The motor currently produces 40 PS at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. While the power figures are likely to remain unchanged, Triumph may tweak the gearing for a sportier riding experience in line with its 'Brat Track' identity. On the hardware side, the bike will retain premium components such as USD front forks, rear monoshock, and disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Launch Timeline & Expected Price
The Triumph Tracker 400 (or Street Scrambler 400) is expected to debut around October 2025, positioned between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. Pricing could fall somewhere around 2.60 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more affordable than the upcoming Thruxton 400 while giving customers another distinct flavor in the 400cc segment.
This motorcycle will essentially serve as a middle-ground offering for riders who want something more rugged than the Speed 400, but not as tall or off-road focused as the Scrambler 400 X. With its unique flat-tracker styling, it could carve out a new niche in India, as this category currently has no direct rivals.
Verdict
With the 400cc platform already proving to be a strong foundation for Triumph in India, the upcoming Tracker/Street Scrambler 400 looks set to expand the brand's reach further. Its flat-track styling, twin exhausts, and everyday usability could make it a sweet spot in Triumph's 400cc range, appealing to those who want style and performance without stretching to a full-blown Scrambler.
