Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Spied - First Spy Shots Out

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Himalayan Electric spied in Ladakh.
  • Was showcased at EICMA 2023 and 2024.
  • Check photos and read what is it wearing.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric, in its post-production version, has been spotted in Ladakh (UT). At EICMA 2023, RE showcased the HIM-E prototype, and at EICMA 2024, they brought the production-ready version on stage - the same bike that has now been spied here. However, this doesn't indicate it is getting launched anytime soon, as Royal Enfield will launch its maiden electric bike - the C6 - under a new sub-brand 'Flying Flea', as confirmed by the CEO. That said, let's discuss these spy shots and see what all it gets. Before that, make sure to join the 91Wheels WhatsApp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric

To begin describing the elements we noticed - first of all, Royal Enfield has made a man out of a teenager, as the HIM-E Prototype looked like a motorcycle straight out of a Mad Max movie set. It now appears more polished and glittery, with a lot of gold colour that makes it look like a very special bike, even in the photos where only this product is visible. Speaking of the front profile, the LED headlight setup has several different light elements, and above it sits a long transparent wind deflector.

RE Himalayan

Talking about the side profile, it's all aluminium, which is striking to the eyes at first glance. Although it looks like the battery and motor are stacked in the middle, covered by an aluminium chamber-like cover. Also, this motorcycle doesn't seem to be built on a trellis frame, but rather a custom-made one to perfectly integrate all the electrical components. The suspension is seen as fully adjustable USD, finished in a golden shade, and the rear mono-shock is again believed to be fully adjustable. Dual-channel ABS would be there. Talking about the spoke wheels, they appear to be fitted with Bridgestone Adventurecross tyres.

RE Himalayan

Here, the Himalayan Electric is seen in a single-seat setup with a white and black contrast, and 'Royal Enfield' written on its tail end. Plus, the fuel tank area is replaced by another seat section, which looks odd at first - but we are reminded again that this was also seen in the Himalayan Electric 2.0. Lastly, a 7-inch unit is visible, and the brake fluid reservoir is mounted on the handlebars. Now, this won't launch anytime soon, as RE CEO B. Govindarajan has confirmed that the C6 will come first under their new sub-brand, Flying Flea.

Verdict

This motorcycle will definitely have the power and engineering to achieve the same level of strides that the Himalayan did, but it won't be able to match its touring capabilities due to its electrification. The bike was recently spied at a hotel in Ladakh - probably as part of Royal Enfield's ongoing testing. It's still too early to comment on it, as it's in the production stage, but we think it might carry a battery pack of more than 10 kWh, with a range of around 400 to 450 km on offer.
