Hi, I'm Tejen. I was born and brought up in a small town of Haryana. However, from the day of my birth and until now, I've always lived around cars and motorcycles. More than passion, the automotive world is my only lifestyle. It's the connection to the vehicle that delivers me peace. However, when it comes to a choice; my instinct leads me towards motorcycles.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor - PROS

RE has designed a beautiful big cruiser bike. It has got its fair share of the latest tech & features as well. To be available in multiple variants & colours; some of its major pros are as below:

1) Royal Enfield Super Meteor Design - Big Bike Feel

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

It has to be the first thing to get mentioned. Undoubtedly, the Super Meteor is one of the most beautiful bikes from RE. Although its design has carried some elements from the Meteor 350 it still looks amazing. The beautiful curves of the front fender, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, & curvy rear fender all fall into place making it look proper retro cruiser. However, there are plenty of blacked-out parts on the bike that give it a sporty feel as well. The design of it gives it a big bike feel like Harley or the Indian. Moreover, this beautiful design is enhanced by dual-tone paint shade options.

2) Feature Loaded

While its siblings like the Interceptor 650 offer a good combo of features; the Super Meteor is one step ahead. RE has made sure to buckle up its latest 650 with plenty of features. It has got an LED headlight, LED taillight, and LED turn indicators. Additionally, it gets the tripper navigation as standard with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity. Meanwhile, the presence of a semi-digital instrument cluster helps the rider to monitor all the necessary info on the go. RE has also loaded it with an ECO riding light that switches on with a fuel-economical riding style.

3) Comfortable Riding Posture

Another major pro of the Super Meteor is its comfortable riding posture. Being a cruiser, it has been designed to offer maximum comfort. The wide handlebar, low-slung seat with extra cushion, & front-set footpegs offer great straight-line comfort. Additionally, the rear passenger also gets the option of deluxe footpegs as well as a backrest. However, these optional accessories will only come along with a price tag. RE is also offering touring accessories like a big windshield that will make it even more comfortable.

4) Powerful Engine & Specifications

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

As we know it is a 650cc bike, hence it shares a lot of components with Continental GT 650. However, RE has gone one step ahead with the Super Meteor. How? Well, it gets the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine. This engine makes 47 bhp of peak power & 52.3 Nm of peak torque in it. Additionally, RE has remapped the ECU and fiddled with the gear ratios to counter the changed dimensions. Meanwhile, the specifications have also been revised. It gets USD front suspension and dual-spring rear suspension. The front tyre is a 19-inch tubeless alloy wheel while the rear is a 16-inch tubeless alloy wheel. The Super Meteor also gets a new exhaust end can design.

5) Improved Quality

When the 650 twins were introduced back in 2018, the quality was one of the top talking points. With the new Super Meteor, the quality standard of RE has successfully plunged ahead. The overall fit & finish it is impeccable. With slim to none panel gaps and brilliant quality of construction; the Super Meteor is a well-put bike. Not just that but RE itself claimed at the EICMA that Super Meteor is their most refined product until now.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor - CONS

1) Heavy Body Weight

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

If you thought that the current 650 twins were heavy; wait for the Super Meteor to hit the roads. Its kerb weight of it stands at 241 kg (dry). Yes, you read it right. The upcoming cruiser from RE is really heavy. Just for reference, the Interceptor 650 weighs 202 kg dry. Meanwhile, the Super Meteor is 39 kg more heavy than the Interceptor itself. Heavy weight means that the maneuverability will be less than current the 650 twins. However, RE has made big claims that it is equally nimble to ride on curves as well. We doubt that.

2) Fuel Economy

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

A light bike is not just a fast bike but also an efficient one too. With 241 kg to handle and the added fuel and rider weight, its fuel economy is not going to be good. However, the company did not utter a word about this at the EICMA; we suspect that the figures are not very good. The current 650 twins are also infamous for their sub-25 kmpl fuel economy figures. However, with 39 kg more body weight; we anticipate that this figure will dip even more for the Super Meteor cruiser. Do not look forward to it if you're a fuel economy freak.

3) High Price Tag

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

As we speak, the Super Meteor is getting ready for its launch soon. The suspected launch will take place at the upcoming Rider Mania in Goa. However, the main question remains its pricing. The expected price tag of it remains between Rs 3.35 - 3.5 lakh ex-showroom. Mind you, this will equate to the north of Rs 4 on-road price in some states of India. So, the new 650 cruiser is definitely not going to be an affordable 650. Its hefty price tag means that a lot of buyers shall sway from it.

Verdict

So these are some of the top pros & cons of the Super Meteor 650 which we know so far. Meanwhile, the bike will launch soon in India. We will test-ride it and bring you more info about its in-depth pros & cons at the time. Until then, comment and tell us what you think about the upcoming cruiser from RE.
