The introduction of GST 2.0 norms has reshaped the pricing landscape for premium motorcycles in India. Suzuki Motorcycle India, like many other brands, has revised prices across its big bike range, with significant hikes for the Suzuki Hayabusa, V-Strom 800DE, and GSX-8R. This comes shortly after the fact that the company has discontinued the Katana, narrowing its large-capacity portfolio in the country. Read on to find out the new pricing of the big bikes from Suzuki and how much more you need to shell out now, but before that, make sure to join the 91wheels WhatsApp Community of avid petrolheads to never miss out on any latest news and automotive updates.

Suzuki Hayabusa: The Most Impacted

Suzuki Hayabusa

Suzuki's flagship in India, the Suzuki Hayabusa, faces the steepest revision. Its price has risen by Rs. 1.16 lakh, moving from Rs. 16.90 lakh to Rs. 18.06 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite the increase, the Busa remains a highly aspirational motorcycle, having recorded 511 units sold in FY2025, its best-ever sales performance in India. The model also commands a 57% share in the 1,000cc to 1,600cc segment, but the higher sticker price may influence demand in the current fiscal year.

V-Strom 800DE & GSX-8R: Mid-Segment Adjustments

The mid-displacement offerings from Suzuki are also subject to GST-led increases, though not as severe as the Hayabusa. The V-Strom 800DE now retails at Rs. 11.01 lakh, reflecting a Rs. 71,000 hike, while the sportier GSX-8R is priced at Rs. 9.89 lakh, up by Rs. 64,000. Both motorcycles were recently updated to meet OBD2B emission regulations, but until now had avoided price escalation. This is what the new price list looks like:

Old PriceNew PricePrice Hike
GSX-8RRs 9.25 lakhRs 9.89 lakhRs 64,000
V-Strom 800DERs 10.30 lakhRs 11.01 lakhRs 71,000
HayabusaRs 16.90 lakhRs 18.06 lakhRs 1.16 lakh

Suzuki Katana Discontinued

Prior to these revisions, Suzuki confirmed the exit of the Katana from its Indian portfolio. Launched just over three years ago, the retro-inspired litre-class naked never quite found its footing in the market. Positioned below the 'Busa' at Rs. 13.61 lakh, the Katana offered a distinctive design and a 999cc in-line four-cylinder engine delivering 152 hp and 106 Nm. Despite strong performance credentials and electronic aids such as ride modes, traction control, and a bi-directional quickshifter, the motorcycle struggled to resonate with Indian buyers. Frequent discounts underscored its weak demand, and competitors like the Honda CB1000 Hornet SP offered a more compelling price proposition, ultimately leading to its exile from our market.

Verdict

With the Katana's discontinuation, Suzuki's premium motorcycle line-up in India is now restricted to the Hayabusa, V-Strom 800DE, and GSX-8R, all of which are now more expensive under GST 2.0. While the Busa continues to enjoy cult status, and the newer 800cc twins broaden the brand's appeal, the rising costs may challenge accessibility for enthusiasts. Nevertheless, Suzuki's decision to streamline its portfolio suggests a sharper focus on models with proven demand, even with enthusiasts now having to account for the updated costs when planning ownership
