One of the most anticipated launches of 2021 in India has to be that of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Yes, the correct rival to the Mahindra Thar, Suzuki Jimny will also follow the list of becoming the most affordable SUV. The dimensions of the India based Suzuki Jimny 5-door version has been leaked and it measures 3850 in length, 1645 mm in width, 1730 mm in height and will carry a wheelbase of 2550 mm. It gets a ground clearance of 210 mm and the 15-inch wheels get 195/80 dimension.

When compared with the Mahindra Thar, this 5-seater Jimny will surely rock the sales chart because of the added practicality and the 4x4 modes offered as standard. What's interesting is that both the 3-seater and the 5-seater versions of Jimny retains the 1.5L engine.
This 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine churns out 101 bhp with a peak torque of 130 Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission is observed as standard and you get a 4-speed torque converter as an option. According to the WLTC, the fuel economy of the 5-seater version sticks to 13.6 kmpl.

While there are no official reports as to when this 5-door version of Suzuki Jimny will be launched in India, we are expecting it to be launched in late 2021 or early 2022. Once launched, it is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 14 lakh and will rival Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
