Around 2015, Tata Motors shifted to the new age products with the Tiago. The Tiago was the first car from Tata which had no design resemblance with older offerings like the Indica and Bolt. Then came the Nexon which really changed the game of Tata Motors in India. Thanks to its refreshing yet controversial looks, promising powertrains and bulletproof safety, it set a benchmark in the market. Today, Tata Nexon has touched the 1.5 lakh production milestone and a lot has changed in these three years.
Tata Nexon was the first Indian car to ever get 5-star crash test rating from Global NCAP. It was a remarkable achievement for Tata and the brand advertised Nexon as "The Safest Car in India". There is no denying the fact that the Nexon was the car which popularised the safety aspect in buyer's minds and also competitors. Not only that, Tata worked heavily on the Nexon over the years to make it a compelling product whereas the recent facelift made it even more appealing.
With its revolutionary coupe inspired SUV design, floating infotainment screen and premium interiors, the Nexon has set new standards in terms of design in the segment. The powerful turbocharged engines combined with 209mm ground clearance have ensured that the Nexon has always been appreciated for its segment-leading performance and driving dynamics. Some prospective buyers weren't happy with the front and rear profile of the Nexon which were taken care of well in the BS6 facelift.
It was a tough job to rebuild the trust of buyers and it surely took some considerable time. The Tata Nexon came out as a reliable, efficient and dependable product with some niggles fixed later on. Furthermore, Tata Motors is the first choice for safe cars in every segment and the brand is following the path. The Tiago, Nexon, Harrier and Altroz are the most popular Tata products and garnering good sales for Tata Motors. Just like the Tata Nexon 1.5 lakh production milestone, we will see more milestones being achieved in future.
