Tesla has updated its Electric SUV Model Y with a range of 315 Miles which is the new record holder and called as the most efficient SUV in the world! Offering up to 315 miles or 505 km means a bump of 35 miles or 57km over the previous model. Old Model Y used to produce 280 miles / 450km which is more than what the current three pure electric E-SUVs offered in India can do. Tesla has developed its AWD or all-wheel-drive system and made it more efficient to offer the best possible range. In terms of the direct rivals, the model Y offers more range than Jaguar I-pace, Mercedes EQC, Ford Mach E AWD and Audi E-Tron.
Surprisingly, both the Long Range and Performance variants offer the exact 315 miles of range despite the added power and performance. Tesla hasn't mentioned the official power figures of the updated model Y. Both the Long-range and Performance variants come with AWD and optional 7 seats.

The difference lies in the acceleration and top speed figures, the Model Y Long range does 0-100 in 4.8 seconds and tops at 217 km/h meanwhile the Performance variant does the same in 3.5 seconds and tops at 235 km/h.
Tesla' statement on the updated Model Y-
Due to continued engineering progress of the Model Y all-wheel drive (AWD), we have been able to increase its maximum EPA range to 315 miles, compared to our previous estimate of 280 miles. This extends Model Y's lead as the most energy-efficient electric SUV in the world.

Tesla will start the deliveries of the Model Y SUV in March 2020 and one can pre-order their Tesla cars from the official website. We still have no clue when Tesla will launch its cars in the Indian market.
