Tesla Model Y

Model Y, the first ever car by Tesla, is launched in 2 variants and 2 battery packs. On the day of its launch, its bookings started with a Rs 22,000 token amount and later customers need to pay Rs 3 lakh within seven days. On that day, Tesla site showcases that it can only be registered in 3 cities only. Mainly, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram. Now, this registration list has expanded, and customers from any part of India can order it.
However, the site mentions that, "Registration in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Gurugram will be prioritized for delivery. State or territory location are used to estimate your on-road price. Final prices may vary due to individual circumstances."

This indicates that the company has provided this functionality to give customers an idea of how much this car would cost in their state. Even if interested people place their order, this car will take longer to be delivered as only 1 showroom-cum-experience center has opened in India, and the second will be inaugurated in Delhi (most probably). So, the time duration is unknown as of now.
Details About The Car

This fastback SUV is launched with two variants - Rear Wheel Drive which costs Rs 59.89 lakh and Long Range Rear Wheel Drive at Rs 67.89 lakh. The Rear Wheel Drive or the base trim has a 500 km WLTP range on offer, and it can do 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. The second Long Range trim has a claimed WLTP range of 622 km, while it's marginally faster - doing 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. That said, both of these trims have the same top speed of 201 km/h.

Verdict
Tesla Model Y has been received with mixed feelings, as its price seems unjustified to most Indians. That's because, in other countries, it costs half the amount of what we are getting, and around 50% of the ex-showroom price is taken by the government as taxes. And nobody can do anything about it, because this car isn't manufactured here - it is imported (CBU), and our government charges a lot on that. So, interested people have to swallow this hard fact.
