Yamaha XSR 155 Launched; Details

The XSR 155 shares its powertrain with the R15, with the same 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder powertrain in the same state of tune, producing 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at 7500rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Built on the Deltabox frame, the XSR 155 hangs off of USD telescopic forks and a linkage-type monoshock, while riding on 17-inch wheels with alloy rims.

In terms of features, the XSR 155 keeps it simple, with a round LCD instrument cluster featuring app-based smartphone connectivity, call/SMS alerts, but strangely there is no turn-by-turn navigation. It also packs in traction control, and a slipper clutch.

Visually, the XSR 155 gets proper neo-retro styling, making it an actual neo-retro motorcycle from the Japanese bikemaker in India. The round headlamp, a simple, clean-looking fuel tank, the flat ribbed seat and a compact tail section are all done quite well. All this while, it also packs in a performance-oriented powertrain. Remember the last retro Yamaha that did this? The RX.
Verdict
The XSR 155 has been on the wishlist for Yamaha fans in India for many years, and now that it is finally here, it should help stabilise the ship for Yamaha India, which has been in troubled waters for quite a while now.
