Top Five Common Causes of Overheating Of The Car's Engine - All Details

The heart of the machine, i.e. the engine of our car should be always well maintained. Also, we should always try to ensure that there should be an optimum temperature maintained in the engine bay of our favourite car. Now, Overheating is a very common problem in cars in India. Now, you might already be knowing that the overheating of your car's engine is a direct result of the failure of any one component of the cooling system of the engine. However, there are several other reasons too. So, today in this article, we have listed for you the Top five common causes of overheating of the car's engine.

Top Five Common Causes of Overheating Of The Car's Engine

Now, with the help of the cooling system, the engine is able to be on a boil properly while you are driving, without getting heated up unnecessarily causing damage to itself. However, if there is any damage to even one of the components of the cooling system, it can result in overheating of the engine of the car. The overheating of the engine is a direct result of the failure of any one component of the cooling system of the engine. Loose-fitting or a broken component of the cooling system can lead to a sudden rise in the temperature of the engine, and thus overheating occurs. Here are the Top five common causes of overheating of the car's engine:

Broken Radiator - There are situations when the radiator of your car might get damaged post an accident or due to an internal failure, resulting in the burning up of the radiator fan. Such situations lead to the radiator being unable to cool off the coolant re-circulated back into it, thus keeping it warm and then, the engine, which can lead to overheating as a direct result.

Low Level Of Coolant - This is the second most obvious reason for the engine not getting cooled appropriately. The low level of coolant in the system might be insufficient for the engine to keep going at high temperatures, especially when driven hard or for a prolonged time.

Damaged Hoses - The hoses which connect the engine and the radiator of your car are responsible for the flow of coolant between these two parts. However, if these hoses get damaged by development of cracks and cuts or are loosely fitted, the flow of the coolant in any of these two parts will be reduced and limited, causing a rise in temperature.

Malfunctioning Of Water Pump - A water pump is responsible for extracting the coolant into the engine through the hoses. However, if there is any defect caused to this water pump, it is unable to extract a sufficient amount of coolant into the engine, causing water deficiency to cool the engine as a result.

Defective Thermostat - The thermostat is responsible for holding off the entry of coolant in the engine during the warm-up period when you crank the engine for the first time in a day. This helps in faster warming up of the engine. However, if there is any defect caused to the thermostat, it will result in an improper flow of coolant, resulting in some power losses and overheating of the engine.
