TVS Srichakra To Develop EV-specific Tyres called, E Torq

TVS Srichakra currently manufactures the TVS Eurogrip tires. These electric two-wheeler-specific tires will be called E Torq.

TVS Srichakaras specific tyres for electric 2-wheelers will have low rolling resistance, which is very essential for EVs. The E Torq tyres will have better grip and low deformation, as well, due to their special tread design, and stiffer sidewalls. TVS Srichakara has announced that the E Torq will be available for both Indian and foreign markets. It will be available in several sizes, including 90/100-10, 90/90-12, and 3.00-10 inch sizes.

The company showcased their new product at the companys Tread talk event in Chennai. Alongside the new E Torq tyres, TVS Srichakra also showcased the DuratrailEB+, Beamer HS+, and Beamer YS+ tyres for 125 cc  150 cc motorcycles. The company also revealed Protorq Extreme and Roadhound. The former is for the sports segment and the latter for Sport Touring motorcycles.

Speaking at the occasion of the launch of these two products was the CTO of TVS Srichakra, Mr. V. Sivaramakrishna. He revealed how normal tyres have significantly more wear and tear compared to the new tyres. Thus the new tread design which is similar to a circuit board specially designed for EVs. The low friction compound gives excellent grip on both dry and wet road conditions while giving extended mileage and reduced energy consumption, he added.

However, while EVs are noiseless, the tyre-road noise is a nuisance, and for that they are looking at technologies to reduce that noise also.
