VW Golf GTI Deliveries Now Underway

Volkswagen India has officially kicked off deliveries of the Golf GTI across the nation, and it seems enthusiasts were quick to act! The automaker has confirmed that the first import batch of 150 units is already fully booked, highlighting the strong demand for this iconic hot hatch. Available in a single, fully-loaded variant, the Golf GTI is priced at Rs. 53 lakh (ex-showroom). Buyers had the option to choose from four distinct exterior colors: Moonstone Grey, Kings Red Metallic, Grenadilla Black Metallic, and Oryx White.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI truly embodies the spirit of a performance hatch, exuding a sharp and aggressive aesthetic. Upfront, it commands attention with sleek LED headlamps seamlessly integrated with full-width LED DRLs with a honeycomb mesh design on the air dams, and five-piece X-shaped LED fog lamps contribute to its modern and purposeful face. From the side, the Golf GTI maintains clean, athletic lines, punctuated by eye-catching 18-inch alloy wheels and vibrant red brake calipers that hint at its performance capabilities. The rear design perfectly complements the front, featuring wraparound LED tail lamps for a cohesive look. A bold GTI badge prominently displayed on the tailgate and a sporty bumper housing dual round exhaust tips complete the aggressive and well-rounded performance-oriented styling.

Stepping inside the Golf GTI, it features a sophisticated all-black interior theme, dominated by two integrated screens for both the infotainment system and the digital instrument cluster. True to its heritage, the seats are upholstered in the iconic Tartan fabric, instantly recognizable to GTI enthusiasts. Beyond aesthetics, the hot hatch comes loaded with features designed for comfort and convenience, including three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 7-speaker sound system, wireless phone charging, and keyless entry with push-button start. On the safety front, the GTI is well-equipped with seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite offering 20 autonomous features. Curiously, a 360-degree parking camera is not among its offerings.

Powertrain Option

Under the hood, the Golf GTI truly lives up to its performance moniker. It's powered by a potent 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine, churning out a healthy 265 PS of power and 370 Nm of torque. This formidable mill sends power to the front wheels via a quick-shifting 7-speed DSG gearbox, resulting in the GTI rocketing from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds and continuing its charge to a top speed of 267 kmph.
Verdict
The Volkswagen Golf GTI has proven to be an instant sensation, with its initial batch of imports fully pre-booked even before its official debut took place. This overwhelming demand, despite an expected premium price tag, likely comes as no surprise to Volkswagen. The GTI is, after all, a niche performance machine, designed for enthusiasts willing to invest in superior driving dynamics. Now, all attention to the next batch of 100 units, bookings of which is reprted to begin at this year end.
