Mahindra Scorpio N Automatic Now From Z4 Trim Onwards- Starts At Rs. 17.39

Mahindra Scorpio N

Great news for those eyeing the Mahindra Scorpio N, especially its automatic trim. The popular SUV is now significantly more accessible if you're looking for an automatic transmission. Mahindra has introduced the torque converter automatic gearbox right from the Z4 trim, which is just one level above the base model. This means you can now get the Scorpio N Z4 automatic for Rs 17.39 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 17.86 lakh for the diesel (all prices ex-showroom).

2022 Mahindra Scorpio N

This move makes the automatic Scorpio N much more affordable. Previously, the automatic range began with the pricier Z8 Select petrol (Rs 19.06 lakh) or the Z6 diesel (Rs 18.91 lakh). With the new Z4 AT, you're looking at savings of Rs 1.67 lakh compared to the Z8 Select petrol and Rs 1.05 lakh against the Z6 diesel. This certainly broadens the appeal of the automatic Scorpio N, bringing it within reach of more buyers. This comes after a long run of the Scorpio N in the Indian market, and that too with a soaring demand for it.

Interior And Features

Mahindra Scorpio N Front Row Seats

The Mahindra Scorpio N is well-equipped for comfort, convenience, and safety, featuring an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, and a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat. It also boasts a sunroof and a premium 12-speaker audio system. Safety is robust with six airbags, electronic stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and both front and rear parking cameras. Furthermore, the top-tier Z8 L trim adds ventilated seats and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, while a wireless phone charger is available across all Z8 variants, making it a pretty beefed up cabin in terms of tech on board.

Mahindra Scorpio N: Powertrain Options

2022 Mahindra Scorpio N

Under the hood, the Mahindra Scorpio N offers a diverse choice of powertrain options spanning diesel and petrol. Buyers can opt for the 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine, which delivers a healthy 200 bhp and 380 Nm of torque. For diesel enthusiasts, there's a 2.2-liter diesel unit available in two states of tune: a 130 bhp / 300 Nm version, or a more potent 172 bhp / 370 Nm option. Both petrol and diesel engines come with the flexibility of either a manual or a torque converter automatic transmission. When it comes to efficiency, the petrol engine claims 12.70 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 12.12 kmpl with the automatic. The diesel engine, meanwhile, boasts a claimed mileage of 15.42 kmpl regardless of the transmission chosen.

Verdict

The move to offer the convenient torque converter automatic from lower variants onwards is something that will re-ignite the demand for this ever-popular SUV. It strikes a perfect balance of price to functionality and will be better suitable for those who are already at a stretched budget, and also for those, who are not a fan of the tech-brimmed cabin and can do with lower trims with an autoamtic gearbox.
